Harding as saying Coun Graham Is an unlearned politician for the Police Commis sion should be abolished and ed by an elected body Politicians have made a royal job of screwing up the world They need armies and police and other agencies to clean up after them the Chief said in the Spectator story If Regional councillors want to handle the police like they handled the dump Issue God help the residents he said In the story In an Interview Friday the Chief said he was quoted accurately in the story but the comment about pollti dans screwing up the world was not aimed at municipal or Regional politicians I think It a little bit of a stretch of the Imagination to think that any decision made by a municipal coun cillor or a Regional councillor could either start or end a war the Chief said I will not apologize for that because it was not meant for them he added Chief Harding said the con trover started after Coun Graham allegedly made personal remarks against me and the way I presented The police commission recently approved a million budget for The budget which contains a per cent increase Is yet to be ap proved by Regional council It was a personal thing That what shocked me and caused me my frustration The Chiefs remarks In the Spec tator story sparked demands by Regional council March for a apology to Coun Graham and whole council I got the Impression the Police Chief thought wed be better In a state said Milton a Bill He said the Chief took cheap shots at councillors Several councillors took offence at the Chiefs comments about how handled the garbage Issue Burlington Coun Joyce Savollne said she was horrified to read the Chief remarks In the newspaper The Issue was discussed at Thurs day police commission meeting where the Chief said he explained his position In response to that mo tion made by Regional Council made an answer to my Board of Commissioners of Police In which I gave an explanation for the com mental Chief Harding said nave given my explanation stands going to stay with passage In the decision which said Ford poses a significant threat to the community served by that hospital and cannot continue until he can demonstrate a significant upgrading In both his knowledge and his practice But Georgetown hospital lawyer Joshua Llswood sold Wednesday that comment Is not part of the dec Much of the 24page decision Is Just comment by the Appeals Board members and Is not a part of the ac tual decision said Mr However Ford can reapply for privileges Jt Georgetown hospital or any other hospital said Mr Ford now has courtesy at Peel Memorial ospltal In Brampton That allows him to use the facilities under guidance and Immediate said Mr Dr Ford can retain the family practice he has kept since his privileges were revoked last April said Mr MacKeiule he pursues retraining he can reapply to Georgetown hospital for consulting privileges said Mr But that application would have to be approved by the Medical Ad Committee ami the hospital board II Ford chooses to appeal the Hospital Appeals Board decision three Supreme Court Judges would review the evidence in the transcripts of the hearings said Mr MacKenile There would be no new evidence or testimony by witnesses he said The two lawyers would at tempt to argue their cases based on the transcripts Hospital Executive Director Mark Rocbon acknowledged Wednesday there will be lasting effects of the bearings on the town There will always be segments the communl that will have a difficult time ap preciating the decision and l sorry about that said Mr Asked It the hospital board has now been vindicated In light of the harsh criticism levelled at them when Dr Ford privileges were first revoked Mr said In my opinion the decision should send a clear message to the community that the hospital board stands lor the provision of high quality patient Mr said he has had phone calls from people who Identified themselves as supporters of Ford before the hearings but they have now changed their minds The hospital s big problem from the start was that they couldn reveal the facts behind the decision to revoke Fords privileges because of the Impending hearing said Mr The appeals board decision was highly critical of the hospital for not supplying Ford with reports by two outside experts criticizing his practice at the lime they were received and for some eight months after that Mr said Wednesday that although the Board was critical of the hospital in that area It was satisfied that Ford had known of the criticisms about his practice Mr said Dr Ford can apply for General Practice privileges at the hospital but they do not carry the same range of privileges allowed a consultant In gynecology and obstetrics Mr would Dot say on Wednesdav If
