Tho Wei The activities and feelings of residents of Eden House Nursing Home recorded by one of the residents during Nursing Home Week were written by a lad for the Home s own scrap book but the Free Press thought it might some insight into the ac tivities residents participate in when the community around is actively engaged in assisting elder so agreed to publish the article NURSING HOMF The past week has been one of great satisfaction to the staff and occupants of Eden House Nursing Home The Auxiliary has worked wry hard and successfully in putting on a week of open house entertainment for those of the Home All friends were expected to and a great many of them did There was a bake sale cookies baked by the Auxiliary and at the Home packaged sold by occupants of the Home Another highlight of the week was the birthday party for those whose birthdays were in June seven all told Each was presented with a corsage and three or four small Summer library to operate again The library of Centennial School will once again be open during the summer season to nil residents or Township commencing July j to August from to on Tuesday and Thursdijs and to on Wednesday Sponsored by the Recreation Committee and sanctioned by the Wellington County Board of Education the availability of reading material from the school library was introduced last year for the first time and proved itself as a highly successful and acceptable venture for many township and area residents Librarian This year Barbara Kelly Vain Street will again fill her role as librarian under the supervision of Rita McPhedran Books for all ages are on hand according to the staff with heavy stress on the tremendous selection for adult readers Many parents became interested last summer when they were browsing with their children said Barbara They found books they themselves were interested in reading and they became regular book exchanging visitors Hope for more Over families from the district participated in the summer reading program and the Recreation committee hopes that with many new books added on the shelves more adults will enjoy the summertime escape via the hometown bank of books of numerous varieties Three cubs lost on survival trip presents There was musical entertainment then each person present wns given ice cream and cake Another special day was when Mrs Bell showed moving pic tures she and tier husband had taken of their own home of the house and its surroundings and also of their four adorable children participating in sports andfeames In the nest part Mrs Bell took us far to her Spain Most of us had never been Hurt but this gave us a splendid idea of that lovtly land and its people We were also taken to a bull fight Our thanks to Mrs Bell Another afternoon the three clever granddaughters of Mrs sang beautifully songs and hymns for us accompanied by their accomplished mother They are certainly grandchildren to be proud of For variety the Eden Mills people arranged to over with cars and take occupants to mill show them the place also their collection of antiques Tea scones were served all agreed they hid never tasted such delicious ones and would give anything to havt the receipc On Saturday June the people in Rockwood did the same thing coming in for occupants and taking them to the Carnival As you can see everyone has been most hind and it has a very successful week Our thanks to all The TV people also did their share coming to the home and taping a program which was shown on Channel 13 June at 10 p m also on Sunday June 20 at 1 m Occupants of the
