lite scale house and along the railway tracks which cut diagonally through the property as well as along the Fourth IJne Machinery in the plant was painted to blend in with the landscape in an effort to START OF REHABILITATION is shown in these photos at the Acton pit The pit edges are to be sloped with soil until there is only graduated side recapture the character of the land unobtrusively with as little of artificial camouflage as possible Leave scar Quarrying rock of course Is an operation that requires movement of thousands of tons of rock and leaves a scar of larfjc to rehabilitate We producer as concerned about rehabilitating land as Indusmin With a series of diagrams Coates explained to the committee bow the company will strip the land In segments rehabilitating as they go If road diversions are not approved they would be forced to dig around the two roads which Intersect almost In the centre of the unmlned property will mine strips and strip off and overburden returning It to the strip when work is completed Coates suggested several uses tor the land when rehabilita tion is complete including a walled city on the outskirts of Acton golf course sports pork and hunting preserve The walled pit as deep as storeys at points was visualized covering GOO acres of the property Over 2500 units of blood are needed in Canadian hospitals every day Ontario as well as for gabion stone for engineering and fortification work along river banks etc to prevent erosion Openpit mining methods employed at the Acton quarry create a scar on the escarpment which is difficult to obscure
