The Halton Museum Foundation and the museum have announced the line-up for the 2011 Jazz at the Museum concert series to start on Sunday, Jan. 9. It comes less than a month after the fall jazz series ended Dec. 12. Since the jazz series began in 2009, it has been growing in popularity, said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr, in a news release. These fundraising events for the foun- dation support the museums capital reno- vation campaign and are the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon of entertain- ment while contributing to the sustain- ability of the museum. The exciting new lineup promises to grow the fan base even further. All concerts take place every second Sunday of each month from January to May. The museum is located inside the Kelso Conservation Area in Milton. Tickets are $20, which includes compli- mentary snacks, or a subscription to all five concerts is $90. The series will kick off on Jan. 9 with a 2-4 p.m. concert featuring JP Saxe and Trading Hearts. The band consists of Jesse Gold on vocals and guitar and Jack Emblem on percussion, who play modern jazz with an blues and R&B influence. This young band likes to connect with audiences through their music, said Steve Baker, foundation chairman and jazz series spokesperson, in the release. Their performance will be an inspiring kick off to the new year. The concerts also have a cash bar, fea- turing beer and wine. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. To avoid conservation admission fees, guests should tell gate staff they are attending the jazz concert.
