ERIN.
Donald McMurchy Esq., father of Mr. Duncan McMurchy, of Erin, died very suddenly last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. McPhee, at Guelph. He had come up from Campbellford with his son on the Saturday previous and had walked to and from the station. His health had been failing of late. He had reached the advanced age of 75. His remains were interred in the Glenwilliams cemetery on Wednesday last, surrounded by a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives. Deceased emigrated from Argyleshire, Scotland, 47 years and ago and has lived in Chingaucousy and Esquesing nearly ever since. He helped to build the first railroad in Canada and worked in the construction of the G.T.R. for three years. He was fond of the Gaelic and would read the Gaelic bible for hours. His memory enabled him to rehearse events which occurred in Scotland 70 years ago. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Scotland. He leaves a widow, four sons and three daughters.
