"We had a very strong AE team," said coach Mike Stone. "We tried to move up divisions into an `A' division and couldn't do it. We didn't see a lot of competition until midway through the season." Even when they've faced tougher competition, the Rangers have had success. Oakville won an `A' tournament in Peterborough earlier this year. The squad will compete in the `AA' division of this weekend's tourney in Mississauga. Stone said parents' involvement with the team also contributed to the Rangers' success. "We had no less than five guys on the ice with me every practice, which made it easier for me to work the ice," said the coach. "Off the ice, everyone chipped in, too. "When you have some success and have a lot of people on the ice and a lot of people on the team, there are very few on the sidelines to be the critic. You get that all-forone feeling." Oakville also swept the Oshawa Minor Generals and Georgetown Raiders in the OMHA playdowns en route to the final. Members of this year's minor atom AE Rangers team are Aidan Williams, Caleb Walker, Daniel Stewart, Isaac Philips, Jacob Long, James Johannesson, Jaycie Um, Kain Harrietha, Luka Zovko, Lukas Radinovic, Matt Stone, Max Perry, Michael Desautels, Paul Franko, Rodrigo Anzola, Rogan Doyle and Ryan Skjarum. Sean Doyle and Bryan Stewart are assistant coaches, Rob Walker and John Um are trainers, and Mary Chiarot is the manager. -- Jon Kuiperij Just look for the bright pink insert in Today's Oakville Beaver.
