Tyke Lightning wins Hornets tourney 905.339.8686 IN THE OAKVILLE HOME IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT 243 SPEERS ROAD, OAKVILLE BETWEEN DORVAL & KERR Visiting teams weren't too friendly to their hosts at the Oakville Hornets' annual girls' house league hockey tournament last weekend. The Blue Lightning tykes were the lone local team to win a championship at the tournament, completing a 5-0 showing at the competition with a 4-1 win over the Burlington Pirates in the final. Leah MacSween scored four goals in the final to pace the Blue Lightning. Also contributing to the championship with strong two-way play were Brooke Belzar, Samantha Ecclestone, Olivia Hledin, Olivia Hunt, Reichen Kirchmair, Kylie Landau, Rachael Mariott, Tatum Martino, Patyon Masse, Katie Panizza, Danielle Pelletier, Stephanie Stainton and Athena Vasdani. Scott Hledin, Blaine Belzar and Matt Stainton coach the Blue Lightning. Tanya Pelletier is the trainer and Joanne Hunt is the team's manager. Two other Oakville teams reached the finals of their divisions. The Blue Shirts fell 2-0 to the Niagara Falls Wolves in the atom final, while the Stingers were defeated 5-0 by the Mississauga Tigers in the peewee championship game. Local semifinalists included the Orange Starbursts and Green Gators (tyke), Tigers (novice), Light Blue Sharks (atom), Orange Flames (peewee) and Blu-pers (ladies). Reduce Reuse Recycle
