Proud and loving wife of 28 y e a r s o f D r. P a u l w h o p r e d e c e a s e d her in 1985. Born in Galt, she had been a resident of Guelph, Hamilton and Georgetown (founded by her great-great-grand-father George Kennedy) before making Oakville her permanent home. An astute businesswoman, lover of animals and of the Arts, avid gardener, golfer and bridge p l a y e r, E v e l y n w a s t h e f i r s t f e m a l e Manager of Canada Manpower in Canada. She was a long-time member of the IODE, a Treasurer of the British Heritage Institute, Co-founder and C h a i r m a n o f O a k v i l l e 's C h r i s t m a s Bureau, instrumental in establishing the YW-YMCA in Oakville, President and long-time member of the Oakville Opera Guild and a benefactor of The Canadian Opera Company. As mentor and confidante to many of her staff members and other Oakville residents, she encouraged them to pursue studies and self-improvement programmes that helped change their lives. Evelyn leaves a legacy of fond memories, kindnesses and generosity. Evelyn is survived by family members Peter and Carolyn Martin, Patricia and James Hawes and Audrey Hartwell.
