Oakville and Burlington Cancer Society units to merge By Angela Blackburn OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF An Oakville icon will be changing its face by the end of the year -- but no one may notice. The Oakville Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society will move from its Fourth Line location as it amalgamates with the Burlington/Milton unit. Its four staff members will notice the new drive to work, but will retain their jobs. Three of the eight staff affected in the two units already share time between the two offices, according to the new unit's manager Sharon Burns. Annual fundraisers like Relay for Life, Daffodil Days and the annual Residential Canvass will all remain unique to each individual community, said Burns. "It will not look different to the communities. It will look different to staff, but three of them go back and forth anyway," said Burns. With news of the amalgamation just rolling out at the end of last week, much has yet to be determined -- like the unit's name and new location. A commercial Realtor is looking for a suitable venue to serve Oakville, Burlington and Milton -- and Burns admitted looking to Burloak or Bronte Roads as having good potential.
