www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday January 24, 2009 - 5 Masked pistol-whipping bandit struck twice Two teenagers have come forward to report they were victims of a pistol-whipping bandit police believe may have been responsible for a similar robbery only an hour earlier on Monday. The two 16-year-olds boys were walking home, near the area of East and Belyea streets, at around 2:30 a.m. when a silver vehicle pulled up beside them. Police said that after the vehicle came to a stop a passenger wearing a mask got out and pointed a handgun at the boys demanding money. The boys surrendered a small amount of cash after which the suspect hit one of them in the face with the butt of his gun before getting back into his car and departing the area. No one was injured during the incident. Police said the boys kept quiet about the incident for several days. They were afraid of the suspect and were concerned about the reaction of their parents after discovering the boys had been out so late. This changed after reading media reports that a similar robbery occurred at 1:45 a.m. the same night. During that incident a 19-year-old man had been walking with six friends, in the Marlborough Court and White Oaks Drive area, when a grey or silver vehicle pulled up and a masked passenger emerged pointing a handgun and demanding money. The 19-year-old surrendered his wallet after which the suspect struck him in the head with his pistol. The suspect then pointed his gun and demanded money from others in the group, but departed the area when they refused to cooperate. Police are at a loss to explain why the suspect pistol-whipped the first victim, but noted that during the robbery of the two 16-yearolds the suspect was reacting to a comment one of the boys made. "A lot of the time when these guys rob young kids they say, `Give me your money or give me your drugs.' They presume young kids are going to have marijuana on them and this guy believed this kid had mariis asked to contact the 905-825-4777, ext. 2215 or juana down his pants and Nissan type motor vehicle. "The bad guy took offense to this and gave him a little whack with the gun." Kelly also noted hitting someone with a gun is a way of showing you have control or power over them, and as such the suspect might be doing it for this reason. The suspect is described as a white male, 20-25 years of age and approximately 6foot-4 to 6-foot-5 in height. He was wearing a large puffy black winter style coat that came down below his , FULL LANDSCAPE DESIGN , PREFERRED FINANCING waist, as well as a blue ban& CONSTRUCTION AVAILABLE danna across his face and , EXISTING POOL , NO COST FINANCING blue jean trousers.
