Beloved wife of the late Bertram "Bert" Ratcliffe (1990). Dear mother of Edward and Sharon Ratcliffe of Elmira, Colin and Diana Ratcliffe of Oakville. Also loving remembered by her grandchildren Gordon (Richard), Lindsey (Gary), Mark and Michael (Megan) and by her great grandchildren Sara, Katelyn and Samuel. Also survived by her extended family in England. Predeceased by her parents and one brother Leslie in England. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Saturday, January 24th from 1 pm until time of funeral service in the chapel at 2 pm followed by cremation. In her memory, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. Kay passed away peacefully with her loving husband Robert (Bob) by her side at Churchill Place, Oakville on Wednesday January 21st, 2009, in her 99th year. Beloved wife and life time partner of Bob for over 60 years. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Myrl Kinnear and dear friends Eyvonne Dalgleish, Roy and Marg Kelley. Kay will be lovingly missed by her God-Daughter Kathy Round and husband Mark and God-Son Paul Dalgleish and wife Kathleen and their families. She will be remembered fondly by nieces and nephews, Jeannette Romanoff, Alta Near, Alvin and Lorna Kinnear and Lois and Jack Armstrong, Graeme and Margaret Hedley, Douglas and Lois Hedley, Murray and Darline Kinnear, Joey and Audrey Kinnear, Joyce and Mel Jones, Kenny and Elaine Kinnear and Brian Griffith; predeceased by niece Donna Griffith. Kay was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Elmer, George, Mark, Grace and Ellen. Kay had a real zeal for life and always had a cheerful laugh and smile. Kay mentored many students over her lifetime. She was a school teacher from 1942 to 1972 and a member of the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario. She was a respected teacher in the game of bridge and became Oakville's first female Life Master in bridge. Kay loved to sing; during her teaching career she used her beautiful voice to teach school children the joys of music. She was also a member of the Choir at Churchill Place. Kay will be forever in our hearts. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society, or the Oakville Historical Society. Resting at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, 905-844-3221, Oakville. Visitation was held on Friday January 23rd from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday January 24th commencing at 12:30 pm.
