www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday November 26, 2008 - 9 Police increase Trafalgar Road traffic enforcement Halton police are increasing their presence along Trafalgar Road as part of a project intended to reduce the number of vehicle collisions taking place there. Police noted that between January and midNovember, 14 per cent of all the vehicle collisions that took place in Oakville occurred on Trafalgar Road, thereby bringing it to the attention of police. The key causes of these accidents include, but are not limited to, failing to stop for red or amber lights, speeding, driving aggressively, following too closely, improper turns and driver inattention. Injuries taking place during these accidents have also been compounded by a lack of seat belt use. The project, which will continue until Sunday, Nov. 30 will see highly visible traffic enforcement on Trafalgar Road with particular attention paid to aggressive/inattentive drivers and seat belt offences. Police will be keeping a record of what tickets were issued where so that area problems can be studied and possible solutions found. The use of red light cameras is currently being re-evaluated by the Halton Region with a report scheduled for submission in early 2009. NOTICE OF INTERIM CONTROL BY-LAW PASSING Drive-Through Facilities Study and Interim Control By-law Town Initiated - Town Wide TAKE NOTICE that Town of Oakville Council passed Interim Control By-law 2008-177, under Section 38 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended, on the 10th day of November, 2008. The Purpose and Effect of Interim Control By-law 2008-177 is to prohibit the use of drive-through (drive-thru) facilities on all lands zoned commercial (except commercially zoned lands south of the QEW and north of the rail tracks between Sixteen Mile Creek and Chartwell Road in the Midtown), and only on lands zoned C3A and Employment which immediately abut residential zones, or roads (except major highways) which immediately abut residential zones, as established in the Town of Oakville Zoning By-law, as amended. THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF OAKVILLE BY-LAW NUMBER 2008-177 The By-law came into force and effect immediately upon its passing, and shall be in effect for a period of one year. Town of Oakville Council has the authority to extend the period during which the By-law will be in effect to a total period not exceeding two years. This matter is a Town-wide initiative. By-law 1984-63, as amended, is hereby amended by deleting Maps 91(1), 91(2), 91(4), 91(5), 91(6), 91(7), 91(8), 91(9), 91(10), 91(12), 91(13), 91(14), 91(15), 91(17), 91(18), 91(19), 91(20), 91(21), 91(22), 91(23), 91(24), 91(25), 91(26), and 91(27) thereto, and replacing them with Maps 91(1), 91(2), 91(4), 91(5), 91(6), 91(7), 91(8), 91(9), 91(10), 91(12), 91(13), 91(14), 91(15), 91(17), 91(18), 91(19), 91(20), 91(21), 91(22), 91(23), 91 (24), 91(25), 91(26), and 91(27) respectively, appended as Schedules B1 to B24, inclusive, hereto. 7. This By-law shall come into force and effect immediately upon its passing and shall be in effect for a period of one year from the date hereof, unless otherwise extended in accordance with the provisions of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended. 8. Schedules A1 to A24, inclusive, and Schedules B1 to B24, inclusive, shall be and hereby form part of this By-law. PASSED this 10th day of November, 2008. 5.
