www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday December 28, 2007 - 57 Mixed results for Rangers squads early in tourney Both the minor atom AA and minor peewee AE (additional entry) Oakville Rangers squads boasted 2-0 records at the Richard Bell Memorial Minor Hockey Tournament as of 4 p.m. yesterday (Thursday). The minor atom AA Rangers defeated the Mississauga North Stars 3-1 and blanked the Mississauga Hornets 5-0. Liam Codderre had two goals for Oakville against the Hornets and Alex Montague, Jacob Patriquin and Timothy Gibson added singles; scoring details from the game against the North Stars were unavailable. Oakville's minor peewee AE squad edged Burlington 5-4 and blanked Agincourt 4-0. Daniel Cubric recorded a hat trick against Burlington, with Colin Song and Steven Farano also scoring. Ian Mason and Alexandre Mareau each had two assists. Jacob Serensits, Kevin Camerson, Mason and Cubric had the Rangers' markers against Agincourt. Braden DiSilva earned a pair of helpers. Also getting off to strong starts were the minor atom AE and minor peewee A Rangers, each winning their first games. Jake Maurice, Spencer Ward and Clarke McCallum scored for the minor atom AE Rangers in a 3-2 win over Straftord; the minor peewee A Rangers shut out Meadowvale 5-0. Both teams were scheduled to play their second games yesterday afternoon. The minor atom AAA and minor peewee AAA teams were both winless after their first two games. The minor atoms fell 4-2 to Clarington (Christopher Purkis and Kyle Potts had the Oakville goals) and 3-0 to Halton Hills; the minor peewees tied Markham 4-4 (Oakville goalscorers included Eric Gordon, Alexander Cox, Tyler Newton and Lucas Zitmanis) and dropped a 3-1 decision to Welland (Andrew Kew had the lone Rangers goal). Oakville's minor atom A team fell 5-4 to Meadowvale and the local minor peewee AA squad was edged 3-2 by the Mississauga Braves in other early action. The tournament continues today and concludes Sunday at rinks throughout the town.
