52 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday December 26, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Novice Hound Dogs champs in Motown A come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Vaughan Rangers clinched gold for the Oakville novice Hound Dogs at the Motown Cup earlier this month in Detroit. Oakville trailed 2-1 in the third period when Hound Dogs coach Darin Kew called a time out to settle his team down and discuss strategy. The move paid off almost immediately as Adam Grant, later named the top player in the tournament, tied the game moments later. Four minutes after Grant's equalizer, Ben Grima scored from the slot to provide the decisive marker. Justin Benoit, who made a number of big saves throughout the game, earned the win in goal. The Hound Dogs went 3-0 in the round-robin portion of the tournament, outscoring their opponents 21-3. Other members of the team are Derek McVey, Ryan Curran, Matthew DiGiantommaso, Matthew Gorman, Devlin Forsyth, Jackson Bartlett, Aidan Iaboni, Rick Schutte, Jack Ricketts, Alex Kew, Vlad Miksic, Ryan Key and Brett Varey.
