www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday November 16, 2007 - 5 Santa Claus is coming to town D on't miss out on all the fun tomorrow when Oakville welcomes Santa Claus at the 59th annual Santa Claus parade. This year's theme is Christmas through the Decades. As always there will be colourful and uniquely decorated float entries moving down the streets of downtown Oakville and Kerr Village. This year's exciting band lineup begins with the Halton Police Pipe Band, features a first-time appearance in Oakville by the Rochester Hit Men Brass Band, coming all the way from New York State and to "top" it off, the Top Hat Marching Orchestra all playing a range of Christmas carols. With all this excitement in store, people of all ages will be sure to get into the Christmas spirit. Starting at 9 a.m., the parade will begin at Lakeshore Road and Reynolds, go west on Lakeshore to Kerr Street, north on Kerr and end at Kerr and Stewart streets. Santa Claus returns with his sweetheart from the North Pole, best known for keeping him on his toes throughout the year. Yes, Mrs. Claus herself will act as the parade's Grand Marshall once again. She is looking forward to being in Oakville and seeing the boys and girls and their families. Make sure to bring a new unwrapped toy and a non-perishable food item to tomorrow's parade. The Kinsmen Club of Oakville will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Jingle Bell Fund and the Oakville Firefighters will be on hand accepting new, unwrapped toys. The Fun Group of Family and Friends of Falagarwood return again to sell their "red noses" and are recognized by their red sweatshirts and aprons. Don't buy your red noses from anyone else! All proceeds will go to Oakville Parent-Child Centre. Children won't want to forget their letter to Santa. Carriers from the Canada Post will be in the parade collecting letters and will make sure they get to Santa in plenty of time before Christmas.
