www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday November 16, 2007 - 15 Honour helps round up suspects A trio of suspected thieves is facing over 20 criminal charges after an Oakville arrest uncovered evidence of crimes allegedly committed across Halton and Peel. In the early hours of Tuesday morning residents of Clearview Drive called police and reported that three people (two men and a woman) had been seen entering vehicles on the street. Upon arrival police discovered the presence of an abandoned vehicle that had been stolen from Milton. As police believed the suspects were still in the area a perimeter was established and a K9 unit, consisting of Constable Rick Lostracco and Police Dog `Honour,' was brought in to help with the search. The K9 unit managed to track down and arrest a male and the female suspect on Chalfield Drive while the third suspect was arrested on Clearview Drive, where he was found hiding under a deck in a backyard. Oakville detectives are also investigating the arrested individuals in connection with a series of other crimes including the theft of a vehicle from Mississauga and several break and enters at residences in Burlington and Oakville. Police say thieves would enter houses through unlocked garage doors and steal valuables from the ground floors while the residents slept upstairs. Stolen property recovered by police during the course of their investigation so far has included five Canadian passports, other forms of identification, cell phones, stereo equipment, computer equipment, wallets and other small items stolen from unlocked vehicles. While two of the arrested individuals remain in police custody, the third has been released on their own recognizance after being charged. None of the arrested can be named due to the Young Offenders Act. Oakville detectives are continuing to investigate these incidents and more charges may be laid as the case progresses. Anyone with information or enquires is asked to call the Detective Sergeant at 20 Division (Oakville), 905-8254747 ext. 2215. Annual immunization is recommended for everyone six months of age and older.
