Board Vice Chair, Norman Murray announced the appointment that will take effect July 3. "A highly-accomplished health service executive who has made a significant impact on the health system over the years, Bill MacLeod brings the right mix of knowledge, stakeholder relations, financial management and strategy to lead our team in transforming the local health system," said Murray. MacLeod was most recently with Hamilton Health Sciences as vice president of Research and Corporate Development, where he played an integral role in physical planning and redevelopment projects. He also served as president of the Bay Area Health Trust, an arm's-length entity created to develop revenue-generating opportunities. A highly-respected figure in the health system for the past 30 years, MacLeod has served as president for St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Toronto East General Hospital, Women's College Hospital and Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton. His experience varies from large health science centres to small startup organizations and includes numerous academic appointments and awards. "Bill's high-energy leadership style, extensive background working in complex environments and his ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders will be an asset to the Mississauga Halton LHIN," said Murray. "We are equally fortunate to have a highly skilled, talented staff that together with the board has created a roadmap to guide our work in the communities of south Etobicoke, Halton, Oakville, Milton and Mississauga. "Our Integrated Health Service Plan (IHSP), which identifies five key health service priorities, is paving the way for a better local health system. Our new CEO will help take our IHSP to the next level as we work towards improved health system integration, locally," said Murray. "Bill MacLeod is a welcome addition to our team and we look forward to continued success in the future with Bill leading the way in his new role as our chief executive officer." The boxes will be used to house keepsake items, like caps and booties, and given to parents who lose their newborns at birth. About 50 babies are lost annually and the local decorative painters group that meets monthly at Harbour Craft Studio in Bronte and includes members from Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington, answered a call by Bergshoeff of the need for such tokens for parents.Another 25 memory boxes will be presented as they are painted.
