20 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday June 13, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com OTMH Fun Run fun for Father's Day Sunday is Father's Day -- time for the 11th Annual OTMH Classic 5km Run/Power Walk/3km Family Walk to benefit the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). The fun-filled family event will feature more than 700 participants and dozens of children running their own race, a 1 km Fun Run for children under the age of 10, all followed by a Father's Day Breakfast. All funds raised will be designated to the purchase of essential new equipment for OTMH. On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with an 8:30 a.m. warm-up -- both at Wallace Park on Reynolds Street. At 8:45 a.m. the 1-km Children's Fun Run starts at the corner of Allan Street and Sheddon Avenue. By 9 a.m. the run gets underway in front of 242 Reynolds St. At 9:10 a.m. the Power Walk will start, also in front of 242 Reynolds St. By 9:15 a.m. the Family Walk start at the same location. Parking will be available at OTMH, Reynolds Street entrance. The event will include music, children's activities, clowns, refreshments and more, a raffle prize and an awards ceremony for all ages. The Oakville Hospital Foundation raises funds for OTMH of Halton Healthcare Services (HHS). The Foundation strives to ensure Oakville residents have access to the highest quality healthcare services, which government funding alone can not provide. With community support, the Oakville Hospital Foundation works to ensure essential healthcare services and resources are available today for patients, community and staff and will be there tomorrow to meet the community's growing needs. Fire Chief Richard Boyes and Deputy Police Chief Andrew Fletcher will also be dropping by. The event will take place from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Bronte Butterfly Foundation Gazebo (Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, Ontario St.), and residents are urged to drop by, ask questions and get to know their neighbours. Last year, more than 200 attended. Kids can check out a fire truck, get their faces painted and pick up a free balloon. Community groups will also be participating.
