Acton/Georgetown, Friday, June 23, 2006 25 Wildcats rally to thwart TNT John Leckie scored three touchdowns to ignite a stellar second-half comeback as the Halton Hills Wildcats junior varsity football team rallied for a 25-22 win over the TNT Express on Sunday at Christ The King High School. The win improved the Wildcats' record to 4-0 and left them as the only unbeaten JV team in the Ontario Minor Football League standings. TNT fell to 3-1 with the loss. The Express led 14-0 at halftime and 22-6 heading into the fourth quarter. But after Leckie scored on a 45-yard run, Wildcats' receiver Victor Pek recovered an onside kick, setting up a Leckie 51-yard run that pulled Halton Hills to within 22-18. Leckie put the Wildcats ahead 25-22 with a 37-yard touchdown run with less than three minutes remaining. The Express then got the ball, but the Wildcats' defence forced the turnover on downs, giving the Halton Hills offence the ball. The Wildcats managed a first down, then were able to run out the clock for the victory. Andrew Kemper started the Wildcats' comeback, catching a 65-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Simon Treviranus. Rob Cutting added a concert. Defensively, linebacker David Van Kooten had 12 tackles for the Wildcats, while cornerback Dave Green added an interception and D.J. McPherson had a fumble recovery. The Wildcats resume league action Saturday with a road game versus the Mississauga Warriors.
