contact him as he appears unaware of the facts regarding the proposed ex pansion of the flea market unfortunately mr martins has neither a phone number nor a mail ing address in the town of whitchurch- stouffville i discovered furthermore that hes neither a voter nor a taxpayer so would ques tion his right to comment on the issue or indeed whether he exists at all however someone wrote the letter and to that person i direct this reply not just residents of wcstfield estates have appealed the bylaw letterswere also received- from aspen crescent gabrielle mews and shane court all of which are outside westfield estates because of the farreaching effects this bylaw can have beyond the expansion of the flea market and the fact this bylaw is so far out of line with the policies of the official plan this issue should be of interest to all residents of stouffville previous attempts to get the flea market owners to deal with the garbage were largely unsuccessful at the very best no more than a token gesture that garbage which did not blow into the homeowners backyards by midweek was eventually picked up was elicited only after many complaints some by the town ongoing complaints about the flea markets septic system remain unresolved to this date an appeal to the omb was a clearly ap propriate legally correct and timely response to councils passing of the bylaw and was made because of the plans to expand the flea market and not the garbage alone the appeal has certainly made the owners of the flea market much more receptive to our concerns than was the case in the past the letters criticism of a group of private citizens exercis ing their democratic rights is insulting and highly inappropriate the troubles unfortunately relate to more than garbage although that too is a problem consider also the considerable traffic problem that already exists and which will only get worse if themarket expands the fire depart ments respdnseho a life-threatehingemergen- cj hameyeddnemsy satur day because of theheavy traffic- thiswill only get worseifllie expansion occurs it appears however that mr martins has presented a very compelling argument in sup port of the appeal as the letter points out the residential development is incompatible with the flea market any future expansion of the market will bring it closer to the residential housing which exists today but with which the letter argues the flea market is incompatible incidentally i proposed some form of buffer as physical isolation from the expanded seg ment of the flea market as it would be an in compatible use which would fall in line with mr martins comments this was unaccep table to the markets owners james d simm aintree drive stouffville many parkview volunteers honored at ceremony by
