to be the winner taking a goalmouth pass from campbell he banged in the puck to make it 20 early in the third period ux bndge getting their solitary marker two minutes later the peewee win was marked by excellent fore- checking that kept the ux bndge squad from setting up the plays while hectic penalty killing in the closing minutes preserved the win whitby bumped 74 the previous tuesdays game showed whitby to be strong openers but the chal lenge faded on a pair of goals by sven hennze assists going to craig stro- nach tonio trentadue and daryl ham whitby getting one back before the end of the first period darron baston put stouff ville further ahead early in the second period the assist going to campbell before whitby woke to the fact that they were in danger of being swamped and came manager sandy newman clippers drop both weekend home games the a and s construction clippers are hard pressed for a win these days the junior squad dropped both their home games over the weekend saturday saw them go down 117 to league second place runners port perry despite getting off to a good start they led 52 after the first period on a pairof goals by mitch turner and singles by bob whiteside mike anderson and chris brown however it was too good to last coach jack watson had to relieve goaltcnder scott lippet who is still re- covering from dental surgery and from there on in it was all downhill port perry slammed in four goals in the second period the clippers only re ply coming from a solo effort by barry green- shields to tie it up 66 going into the third period the final frame was no thing short of a disaster for the clippers port perry did everything right whereas the clipper defence always woefully weak had to stand by and watch the visitors humiliate them with a five goal salvo adding insult to injury was the fact that four of the goals were shor- thanded humiliating bob whiteside counted his second goal of the game to round out the clipper score sundays game the clippers fared no bet- ter in their game against lindsay muskics on sunda- y this time dropping a 106 decision to the speedy visi tors jamie bell and mike gib bons both counted in the commodores win tourney the commodores stouff- villes little known oldtimer team came up with a d di vision win at the bradford oldtimers tournament over the weekend the team was undefeated in all four of their games the commodores opened the tourney with a 41 win over alliston goals coming from terry weatherall 2 howie burkholder and doug carter s game 2 was a 71 walkov er against the hamilton old steamers the scoring was shared by howie burkhol der 2 bob mckinnon 2 terry weatherall peter healey and don kenney the commodores had lit tle trouble in disposing of the stouffville classics what should have been a close game turned into a 10- 1 clobbering for the clas sics heading up the com modore tally with two goals apiece were peter healey don kinney terry weath erall and jim curric steve ellis and bob mckinnon counting for singles a second meeting against hamilton in the fourth and final game made no differ ence to the standings the commodores recorded a not too difficult 41 win the goals being shared by kin ney burkholder healey and steve black team captain larry black received the trophy on behalf of the team with peter healey being awarded most valuable player opening period with the clippers outshootmg the muskics 157 in what prom ised to be a pretty even game but then the best laid plans three consecutive goals by the muskics in the open ing minutes of the second period were enough for coach watson to pull richards and put his hopes in lippctt not that it made the slightest bit of differ ence the muskics were already in full command and the only thing in doubt was the margin by which they would win bell counted for the clip pers in the second period but it was too little too late going into the third the clippers were already trail ing 63 with little hope of holding the visitors to a tic although they did manage to find the net on three occa sions unfortunately the visitors found it on four the clippers arc not sche duled to play this saturday tonight they meet lake- field at home travelling to lindsay on friday sunday will sec them at little bri tain the next home game is on saturday nov19 when they meet bewdlcy one of the best games we have enjoyed for quite some time was only one of the compliments handed out by clipper oldtimer players after their friday nigbt ex hibition game against the beckers milk midgets the game posed a few problems for the midgets played under oldtimer rules no contact or slap shots allowed it took them a while to adapt before set tling down passing the puck well and making the oldtimers realize that they were well and truly in a hockey game in the battle of youth vs experience the result was as 55 tie which is as it should have been endtoend rushes made for a fast game and kept both goaltenders very busy indeed the end of the first period saw the oldtimers lead 32 goals coming from bill ormson and gord ness while mike feasby netted his first of two for the midgets feasby opened the middle frame to tie the score fol lowed by goals from ben wallis and john parcells the oldtimers replying when the wily bill corner counted unassisted with only two minutes left in the period parcells tallied his second goal of the game in the open ing seconds of the third period the assist going to ben wallis with a two goal deficit and only twelve minutes left to play the oldtimers got down to some serious work oldtimer gord ness worked so hard he earned the du bious distinction of earning the only two penalties of the game both for tripping perhaps it was the only way he could stop em but no matter both spec tators and players were well pleased with the experi ment it was an evening of entertaining hockey that tried the legs and stamina of the oldtimers to the limit whereas the young midgets were given a lesson in puck control passing and player discipline someone summed up the game in a nutshell when he referred to it as a gentle mans game and there arent too many of those to be seen these days atoms blast village hosting pickering on fri day evening the atom clip pers skated to an embarras sing 101 win over their visi tors the clippers were ahead by five goals before picker ing managed to find the range in the second period first period goals came from jason underwood an unassisted effort while bill payne counted for a pair both assists going to dayle lewis second period stouffville goals came from drae glov er and brandon pridham the assists collected by jason whitebread 2 brad blacktopp and glover pickering were ham mered mercilessly in the third period underwood counted for two more goals while glover lewis and d rugelis also tallied assists went to lewis whitebrecc glover underwood and jay scaife
