and back sdss rugby midget tourney pickering win title stouffville the sdss midget rugby team needed more than just skill tor their tournament last friday their luck was out every time they played a game losing 20 4 to pickering in their opener the midget team went on to tie their second and third games against brock- and markham both games ended in a 6 6 tie with the home side losing by three points on the deciding kick at goal not the most satisfac tory wa f deciding a winner especially when you dont have a kicker in their final game against victoria park the midgets had already lost five players either through injury or in one case tournament suspension before being edged 10 4 despite coming up empty handed the midget team produced some excellent per formances cory an derson played flat out in all four consecutive games as did team captain giles elliot chris baggs played well in offence and defence before going out with pulled muscles mark mcginn finally found himself a position to suit his talents eighth man ralph dube proved his versatility along with baggs he can play any position in the wing line while bernie schopf pete rozzini mike wright and doug sanderson seem to have won their positions for this season prior to the tour- nament the midgets had lost only to pickering who eventually took the title with a 4 game unbeaten run and tied 1 game apiece with whitby their skills and ability will be tested to the full when they enter the york county finals later this month not withstanding any in juries the team has an excellent chance of going all the way this season 1
