tarymanager of the holsteln friesian association of canada was the guest speaker at the annual ontario county holsteie club twilight meeting which was held on the farm of mr george mclaughlin beaverton on tuesday june 27th in his talk mr clemons gave a very fine description of his recent trip to japan he pointed out many of the differences that exist in farm life here and in that country he also congratu lated the ontario county hol- stein breeders on their outstand ing success at the local and ma jor shows in the province ot ontario the evening programme be gan with the judging of two fine classes of holstein cattle mr g nelson holstein field- man was in charge of the judg ing competition the official pla- cings were made by a panel of three prominent holstein breed ers in the area some 600 people took part in this part of the programme there were over 90 ontario county 4h club mem bers taking part in the junior division of the competition the various winners were junior moat plcnio saturday at greenwood conser vation grounds misses katherlne and fannie gordon of gait spent the week end with mr bert wilson and mr and mrs elmer wilson and helped celebrate mr bert wil sons 84th birthday sunday ju ly 9th mr and mrs jack empring- ham attended the funeral of mr kenneth cain at aglncourt on saturday the cecil disney family the earkdisney family and mr frank disney attended the dis- ney picnic at kamp near tyrone on sunday the sympathy of this com munity goes to mrs wm bir- kett of stouffville in the death of mr birkett on sunday at stoufrville mr and mrs bir kett lived for a time in balsam all ladies are invited to the bazaar and tea on mrs allan mandersons lawn saturday july 15 and the following sat urday the sunday school picnic will be held at greenwood conserva tion area for the noon meal a red cross blood clinic will be conducted in markham village on thursday july 20th in the veterans hall the hours will be from 2 to 4 in the after noon
