held in the markham township council chambers on wednesday even ing of last week the committee had an informal session with mr larry needlar to discuss the possibility of the privately owned newmarket bus lines providing a north yonge bus service similar to that now op erated by the ttc the pres ent agreement with the ttc is up for renewal and pending a report from the solicitor for the municipalities as well as a report from the ttc auditor regarding cost-per-mlle-per-pas- senger for bus service from richmond hill to steels avenue the coordinating committee is investigating other avenues of service unofficially reeve john perry said at a meeting of vaughan township council on monday of last week it should be made perfectly clear the coordinating commit tee is not drawing any conclu sion yet regarding bus service we have promised the ttc we will hear their auditors re port we do not wish to jeopar dise our good standing with them in having the ttc be lieve we are negotiating with other parties before their report is presented and acted upon no parking signs always the newmarket bus line are put up where its fine for which presently travels on the parking from yonge st to front st would mr needlar said pick up as far north in richmond hill as elgin mills slderoad should such a service as this be instituted now run ning nine trips daily to and from the city it was predicted the number of trips needed un der the new plan would be 43 dally now handling almost 8000 passengers a month mr needlar would of course have to purchase more buses to pro vide such transportation mr needlar said he was in terested in three questions which he proceeded to present to the coordinating committee 1 how would deficit and profit be distributed he said he felt that the bus line owner should come in for the profitsharing over expenses as an incentive to giving bigger and better serv ice 2 he asked about the type of service required and suggested two aftrmldnlght around 230330 am trips east side of richmond hui down which are considered money- bayvicw to sicclcs ave across losers having only one or two passengers aboard might be profitably dropped he also ask ed whether his present system ie carrying passengers direct ly to front st for the one all- inclusive fare should be con tinued at present mr needier line transports passengers at the same price as the ttc with we understood the brln- to front st which would ikh mallybe paid for extra thrown in however he said this was merely a proposal and he had no figures to offer the committee but was merely meeting with them to find out if they would entertain a proposal for service from him 3 this question was in re gards to the length of agree ment which both he and the committee said should be for 10 years with regular checkups throughout the time of contract regarding costs fares etc nothing frightens wall street quite so much as the cooing of the dove of peace
