electricity for its own needs would reroute trucks from main street at the regular meeting of stouffville village council on thursday night councillor ken neth laushway suggested that all heavy trucks be rerouted around the town reeve elmer daniels pointed out that this could not be done since no 47 is a provincial highway be sides said reeve daniels if we turned all the gravel trucks onto the gravel roads we would have other municipalities down our neck the reeve felt that the only way to control the speed and loads of these vehicles was through the police depart ment councillor laushway chair- manof the police committee said they would recommend the use of the towns speed trap whenever possible chief constable y diamond presented council with a very complete police report for the month of may out of 21 prose cutions handed out eight were for speeding within the village limits there were 39 occurren ces and complaints received and investigated and 100 warnings issued to motorists during the month the cruiser was driven 1389 miles constable w e vincent informed council that he plans to take up permanent residence in stouffville by july 1st new presbytery the toronto conference of the united church of canada meeting in toronto this week instituted a new presbytery to be known as the york presby tery the boundaries of this new presbytery will be no 7 highway from locust hill to the east to yonge street then westerly to include richmond hill and maple to the west and then north to sutton this new presbytery will be duly consti tuted on january 8 1957 in st andrews united church in markham united missionary church conference at stayner ministers and delegates from nil of the united missionary churches in ontario convened nt stayner june 5th to 8th meeting of council councillor nesbitt charged that the road superin tendent had not been properly supplied with necessary equip ment making it necessary for the employees to use their own tools for township work he stated also that in his opinion there had been a laxity on coun cils part in cooperating with the welfare officer councillor nesbitt speaking in regard to the townships build ing restrictions said he knew of numerous eases where fam ilies were living in everything from garages to cellars where the assessment wouldnt be more than 5000 its skin off our nose every time we dont enforce our build ing bylaw said councillor nes bitt councillor clarence bunker agreed that the situation would worsen if something wasnt done reeve stuart ball pointed out that council couldnt expect
