drops of completely the group semifinals and 8a 1i3 should be the exciilns conclusion to the oftbali season lei hope this summer the contents can be slaved at a time wh a conditions are more favorable for both players asd the spectators between seasons this u the time of yzr when hockey finds itself bein pushed out of the sporu spotlight to be replaced by softhall baseball golf tennis lawn howling horseshoes and dozens of other warmweather activities probably due to the inclement weather summer sports interest here isnt too brisk at the present time in the minor baseball front there is no definite word a to what fan 3 will see at the local park the possibilities ot a junior team are not bright since mme of our best per formers are slated for tryouts with the feed sox and their chance of catching a pot on the tricounty club are quitegood from earlier reports sroutfville vlil have another midget entry a team that provided local fans with some good entertainment last summer jack watsons buttonviue sluggers will he back in action here and the softball semifinalists will be a welcomed sight back on th stbuftvifie diamond there is renewed interest in soccer here the stouffyule entry is now in an organized group and will play their home games on saturday nights theres nothing too definite as to the return of the girls softbal team here but i would think that from a town of 2200 people nine aboveaverage ball players could be found a meeting to be held shortly will probably iron out this problem as for the tricounty circuit one of the best groups in years is shaping up with seven teams desiring to enter more information will be available for nxt weeks issue all i can say at the present time is that fans will see plenty of summer sport here during the next five months in fact if you arf down at the park any nisht from monday to saturday there will probably be something doing poor pomcy did you read the sport pases of the daily papers on tuesday nuht if you did you probably noticed the strategy that coach turk firoda has mapped out for his marlboros for the seventh and final game with the montreal jr canadians to win we must hit every man says the turk this motto will never be framed and hung in hockeys hall of fame by the time thus paper appears the game will be history but its no wonder that so many local fans are hoping that the flying frenchmen will upset the oncefavored toronto crew this type of hockey that the former maple leaf netminder is apparently teaching his players is exactly the kind of rowdyism that omha officials are trying to stop this rouh play which is practiced too often in jr a ranks should be ridiculed instead of stressed the players themselves seem only too anxious to engage in a knock em down drag cm out type of hockey and their overanxious ambitions should he restrained what are you going to do when the coach orders his team to play in this manner a biglittle stait very often i have heard hockey coaches say when discussing the ability of certain players hell never be any good hes too light this depends perhaps on where this light player chooses to play have you ever heard of victor zamick a few years aco he performed in the western canada junior circuit with st boniface and his ability to score goals drew the interest of pro scouts they took one look at the little 130 pound speedster and said hes too small xot to be denied victor went over to england to play with nottingham and in his nine years with the team he has potted no less than 650 goals and picked up 525 assists for a total of 1175 points his biggest reason was in 195455 when he scored 9 1 goals and counted 74 assists for a record of 169 points when maurice richard of the canadiens had notched 500 goals zamick was well over the 600 mark w hat has this 29yearold star to say concerning the nhl he says that its impossible o work at developing skill when youie constantly watching to defend yourself i think its one of the troubles with canadian hotkey today he stated there is so much emphasis on body contact that little attention is paid to fundamentals perhaps coach bobby bauer and his kitchener crew will agree expect six teams to reenter the claremont ball loop j aurora may be a 1 new entry in tricounty league there may be two new entries red sox harold hodgson first in the tricounty league this sicker with altona
