parade and fun around the four corners on saturday afternoon from a seat in the family car miss jean gregg of winder mere dive west toronto was a guest of mr and mrs hugh gregg on saturday and sunday the christmas program of the wjis was ably presented by mrs carsons group last thursday in the ss room mrs t gregg contributed a piano solo star of the east and several christmas hymns were sung the president mrs ixyst was in charge of the business and called upon the dept secretaries to report on the years work special thank was tendered to the leader of the quilting committee for the splendid work of the past year also to mrs neal for opening her home for the quiitings from which the sum of 11500 was realized the mission band supt suggested the coopera tion of members in purchasing biblical calendars during dec to increase the bands revenue the treasurer of the wms suggested the use of monthly envelopes for all members and mrs tomlinson was asked to purchase and deliver same a famous picture of the christ chfld was passed around among those present by mrs carson a vocal duet was sung by mrs sanderson and mrs redshaw the secretary reviewed the highlights of the programmes and mrs everson nor ton when the following officers were elected for the coming year president allan ellicott vicepres everson norton secretary mrs frank carter treasurer mrs j keeler press convener mrs m elli cott and teacher mr allan ellicott there is to be a social eve ning held in the township hall on friday evening december 17 when all friends of the com munity are invited to honor brougham softball team and see them presented with jack ets crests and also a cup for being champions of interme diate s ontario amateur soft ball the sunday school are plan ning for their christmas con cert the church and other items were taken care of lunch was serv- ed by the hostess and a vote of thanks was given to mrs brown for having us at her lovely home the january meeting will be at the parson age green river sorry to report that mr fred wright is in the hospital at present mr and mrs bowles sr spent the weekend with mr and mrs t bowles mr and mrs r hamilton and r hutchings called on mrs move to peterboro early in the year on friday evening residents of claremont honored the retiring agent by present ing him with some lovely gifts both mr and mrs drew re ceived a chesterfield chair a floor lamp a hamper and tow els the presentation was ar ranged by messrs levi linton mr and mrs mac middleton and mrs grant taylor mr drew has been agent at claremont for the past nine years he started his railroad career in fort william when but nineteen years of age he has been connected with the cpr for the past 43 years among the many who at tended the gathering were mr wooten the present roadmas- ter mr levi linton and mr magnus morgan retired road men mr mike trudeau bridge and building master for the district was also in attendance mr j w stewart superinten dent of the division could not be present but he forwarded a congratulatory message there were also friends from have- lock peterboro and toronto mr and mrs drew have two daughters one in vancouver and one in
