was enjoyed by everyone santa claus ar rived and told us that his rein deer just missed being hit by a truck at the seventh conces sion because there were no stop signs after giving out the bags of candy he left to finish his packing for christ mas eve it takes a school concert to bring forth the entertaining talents of the children this year there was an unusual a- mount of variety it vas a musical show with lots of songs and carols in chorus duet and solo coupled with their singing and acting abil ities the children showed an ptitude for set construction that was worthy of special mention mrs barkey deserv es a great deal of credit for her excellent work with the children in producing such a fine concert we enjoyed every minute of it unless there is a sudden change in weather it does not look like a white christmas fter all however we did have enough snow to put us in the right spirit and help to peed up the preparations a little white or green i hope that this will be a of a son on thursday decem ber 17 a brother for colleen the wa catered to a turk ey supper on wednesday even ing of last week for the men of the community and sur rounding district there were one hundred and eight who sat down to a delicious turkey supper with all the trimmings following the supper the guest speaker was rev leslie millin of toronto who had spent two years in a concentra tion camp in hon kong the first euchre of the sea son will be held in the com munity hall on tuesday even ing december 29 at s pm ev eryone welcome friends were sorry to hear last week of the motor accid ent that befell mr and mrs walter hill and son louis mrs hill suffered a fractured leg mr hill had a kneecap torn off and he will be hospit alized for two weeks their son louis required several stitches in his chin a speedy recovery to them the wms of victoria square held its annual candle lighting service at the parson age on thursday of last week this was a very impressive service with mrs the western hosp ital toronto and to mr wal ter hill who is in the east general hospital toronto miss yelma brilinger was entertained on saturday night at a farewell party in the home of mr and mrs win vanderbent the heise young people presented velma with a purse of money velma lea ves on jan gth from new york as a missionary to rho desia africa miss ruth henderson enter tained her sunday school class from oak ridges at her home on monday night miss evelyn doner of dick son hill is visiting her grand parents mr and- mrs sx do- rer rev and mrs geo shefte- of stayner and mr and mrs wal ter steekley of barrie were present at the farewell and or dination service for miss vel ma brililnger at heise hill church on sunday afternoon at the close of the service miss brillinger was
