broth erinlaw rev and mrs butt and rev and mrs mclach- lan of locust hill were also their guests mr penny of the 7th conces sion has purchased the duth- ie farm on the 6th concession where he expects to build in the near future mr and mrs duthie have reserved the house and lot all the members of vour fa mily are invited to a christ mas family party at lniinville united church on tuesday december 22nd the party will start with a pot luck supper at 000 pm around two oclock on thursday morning the union ville fire brigade was called out to a car which was al most completely destroyed by fire between the third and fourth concessions on xo 7 highway a beautiful presentation of the christmas story was given by the junior choir and sun day sehool on sunday night in central united church a- will be at s pm on monday december 21st the annual business meet ing and election of officers of the mi pisgah wa was held at the home of mrs harry smith on wednesday decem- ry tine movie picture alms at their hall on saturday night one of these films was put on through the courtesy of the t eaton co and was their 153 parade those attending were treated to candy the ve terans were very much disap pointed at the small attend ance but those who did at tend certainly enjoyed the fine evenings entertainment the wms and wa socie ties of central united church met in the church on thurs day afternoon explorers and baby band were entertained to a christ mas party a christmas story was told by mrs h guscott entitled simon gumps the devotional period was taken by mrs milner who read the scripture lesson mrs mart in who lead in prayer and mrs w oung gave a short but very interesting talk on ste wardship of the mind a lov ely lunch was served by the hostesses of both societies mrs gusott and mrs kent mrs martin mrs g ogden assisted by the members mr and mrs james rennie of toronto and mr and mrs stewart wheeler of agiri- court spent sunday with their parents mr and mrs g og den east drive ber 9th mrs george boynton gave an interesting and time ly devotional on joy and love this was followed by the singing of a christmas car ol and the harvey triplets fa voured with a song and chor us the following officers were elected for the coming year president mrs alvin stephenson vice- president mrs richard baycroft secy mrs chet pattenden treasur er mrs harry smith pianists mrs roy howlett and mrs ross kefter missionary con vener mrs jack gamble temperance convener mrs roy smith flower and sick committee mrs roy howlett mrs ross keffer mrs harry smith mrs roy smith mrs thayer hepburn and mrs george leary parsonage com mittee mrs harry smith and mrs it baycroft mrs james macdonald is under the doctors care and has been ordered to bed her friends are sending good wish es for a quick recovery there will be a special mis sionary program in the sunday- school next sunday deceml- er 20th at 130 pm come and join in worship and also in the christmas service follow ing at 230 pm remember that at christinas we cele brate the birthday of christ remember the sunday school christmas concert to be held in the sunday school room on wednesday decem ber 23rd at s pm everyone welcome the christmas meeting of the gormley wi will be held in the home of mrs bernard kays on wednesday decemb er 30th please note change of day roll call childhood memories of christmas mrs kays will give some tweeds- muir history material prog ram will be given by the grandmothers under the con- venership of mrs ea smith there will be the usual ex change of gifts hostesses will be mrs ea smith and mrs
