last thursday the guest speaker was rev orvil daniel a missionary in india for 21 years and at present the assistant secretary to the foreign mission board in tor onto he is a son of rev daniel who was the baptist minister in claremont for a number of years mrs baker and son from kansas usa visited with mr and mrs g mcconnell for several days last week s reminded of the j dow where her neighbour mrs s slack noticing her lack of response to her usual daily greeting investigated and discovered her condition several hours later summon ing the aid of mr and mrs evans ward and the leeal doctor the unfortunate but still plucky lady was removed to the general hospital toronto as soon as possible the clean break was set satisfactorily and miss evans is looking for ward to being home again as oon as possible she is in her 81th year and had attended the allday session of the bap tist womans association held in uxbridge on the day prev ious to her accident the wa will hold their october meeting friday evening in the united church basement a joint meeting was held afterwards presided by rev h lackey when the extension fund and church observer payment was thor oughly discussed last tuesday evening about 40 members of the goodfellow- ship class held their monthly meeting at the home of mr and mrs j peddie class presi dent the guest speaker was mrs robert nesbitt of the 6th line who gave a very interest ing paper on places visited in england ireland and scotland with a conducted tour before taking her place with her husband among the many thousands who had travelled from far and near to obtain a view of the coronation of our queen loud speakers brought the service from the cathedral to the huge groups assembled by the wayside and the royal parade lefore and afterwards was seen also mrs e ander son on behalf of the class thanked mrs nesbitt for com ing to the group and sharing her experiences in replying the speaker said the trip was of greater benefit when shared with those during the evening anniversary church service at ashburn last sun day rev h lackey was guest speaker at the mt albert anniversary church service last sunday evening while their regular pastor rev mr shapter occupied the clare mont pulpit sorry there was such a poor attendance and no choir though faced with many empty seats and suffer ing from a broken arm the visiting minister delivered an weekend with friendsat clinton and at goderich wm ellicotts friends will be glad to learn that he is im proving and expects to leave hospital this week mr and mrs e e annis of athens are spending a few days renewing old acquaint ances around here there was a large attend ance of ladies at the october 13 meeting of brougham womens institute when they were hostesses to members of claremont kinsale and whit by institutes a cordial wel come from the president mrs manson ellicott was followed by a short business session the date of the next meeting was changed from nov 10 to nov 11 and it is to toe a regular afternoon meeting followed by a pot luck supper and social evening for the members and their families a bus has been chartered to take members to toronto for nov 5 session of the area convention and those desirous of going are asked to let the president know members are goodwood mr and mrs roy schuler and family of bay city michi gan visited with mr and mrs s schuler for a few days last week sorry to report that mrs bruce taylor fell in the yard at her home while carrying a pan of boiling water and scald ed her left arm very badly a number of goodwood peo ple attended the wedding of dorothy leona smith and john william may saturday evening in the donlands unit ed church in toronto mr and mrs may will travel through the southern states on their honeymoon and will reside miss harrison ma of the united church training school of toronto there was also a fairly good attendance at the afternon service when rev h lackey gave a won derful sermon and mr david norton sang a solo which was appreciated by all mrs fred cassie the work of the gideon bib le society was learned from re presentatives d galbraith and r macey who assisted last sunday in united church ser vices in the goodwood charge bringing messages in word and song potato judging competition for junior farmers in ontario they brought home sixth prize congratulations mr jim jones had a tv set installed last week mr george nokes spent the weekend at his home mrs f walls and ross mr and mrs walter biggs billy and lois visited friday even ing with mr and mrs jim jon es and shirlev mt pisgah the stork has was held in the department of agriculture office uxbridge on october 13th president gordon ryn- ard was in charge of the meet ing mr uovd allbton district director on the cream produ cers marketing board addres sed the meeting he expressed satisfaction with the work that has been done during the year by the provincial cream producers association he stressed the importance of the june setaside and he felt that good work was being done in advertising dairy pro ducts mr bob jardine seeretarv- manager of the cream produc ers marketing board gave an interesting address he stres sed the work of the cretuu producers marketing board during the year he stated that the consumption of butler has iiureased by 5 during the year he reported that the funds from the june setaside for the purpose of advertising dairy products has come in very well so far he also stat ed that the cream producers association had a display at a number of fall fairs this year and that this type of advertis ing seemed
