madill yyyvvvxjyyvvjgro few readers of the tribune realize the trouble and turmoil which often accompanies the issuing of the newspaper and so few knew that last weeks issue almost ran aground just an hour beifore wednes days afternoon deadline of 3 oclock the local press suffer ed a severe linotype break on one of the two machines turn ing out final copy it so hap pened however that the ma chine which sustained the breakage was the one which is capable of setting up large heading type and advertising to otlset the delay which kept the paper more than an hour late in starting the final run staff members returned in the evening despite the heat and few readers realized any delay in delivery a repair man was rushed by car from toronto through the late afternoons heaviest traffic and made the necessary repairs dickson hill dr iva toews of pennsyl vania usa and now a sen ior interne at toronto east general hospital was a visitor at the herb wideman home during the weekend dr toews is a sister of mr harold fits peter stickiiev buried at heise hilli i he sudden death of mrs pe ter stickley of almira on sat night july 11th came as a nock to the community al though not enjoying good health for a number o years here was a rapid recline the prst few months and she bore her illness with fortitude and resignation mrs stickley will be greatly missed by a host of friends near and far her grac ious hospitality won her place in the hearts of many the late mrs stickley the eldest daughter of mr and mrs aaron shelter of stayner ont was born april 8 1897 in 191s she was married to pe ter stickley of unionville and for almost 35 years had resid ed in almira she was a mem ber of the brethren in christ church near gormley left to mourn her loss are her husb- end a daughter mary mrs norman jarvis 3 grandchild ren carol marilyn and ken neth john her parents 3 sis ters elsie mrs earl sider cheapside ont minnie mrs roy wyant stayner ont ed ith mrs edgar steckley vic toria square 2 brothers harv ey and george of stayner ont a son leighton predeceased her in 1934 at the age of 4 years funeral services were held wednesday afternoon at the iate residence burial at the heise hill cemetery services were conducted by bish alvin winger assisted by rev roy nigh and rev jesse steckley pall bearers were harold carruthers maurice john timbers telfer jacob shank and allen man will the appreciable damage resulted mr and mrs austin wagg motored to pleasant lake mi chigan last week to attend the annual wagg reunion descen dants of the late thomas wagg onetime goodwood res ident mr and mrs wagg from here visited other relatives while across the border mr wagg is presently working on establishing a complete record of the wagg family tree eby wagg wide- the les wilson tow truck mr bill mowat is a son of mr and mrs magnus mowat of stouff ville lois king laid fo rest the village of stouffville was shocked on wednesday july 15th when it was learned that miss lois king 21 year old nurse at the stouffville brienbush hospital had passed away lois was stricken ill some weeks ago and although rushed to the toronto general hospital all efforts were with out success lois attended public school on the 9th concession of mark- ham south of town and later was employed at the local hos- miss audrey good daughter of mr er good stouffville left on wednesday by train for south bend indiana where she will take a position with the church and radio office with the gospel centre clrirch in that city the minister is the wellknown rev quinton everest who headed the two week arena campaign here 2 years ago audrey recently re ceived her ba degree from the indiana college sherk former minister at the mount joy mennonite churchlpital her heroic rescue at the and is also a niece of mr paul fho hn sherk a former member of the stouffville high school teach- ng staff thank you rev and mrs huson would like to thank the parents who have sent their children to the daily vacation bible church with interment in stouffville cemet ery she brought sunshine into the lives of others during her short stay on earth said rev davis her years were packed full of good deeds lois is survived bv her par ents mr and mrs clifford king 9th concession mark- ham and one brother winston the pall bearers were all cous ins of the deceased milton sproule fred bayliss ted crovall harold boylan eldred the family of mrs joseph heise gathered on the lawn of the family residence on july 11th to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversary of mr and mrs heise about sev enty friends and relatives in all were hurtled with its dri ver went down fifteen foot em bankment into the water the machine luckily remained up right and it was necessary to drive the tractor some thirty feet through the mud at the edge of the lake before rescue operations could begin a large power shovel was hook ed to the front of the tractor and the machine was literally lifted up the vertical bank during all this time the driv er carroll liberal candidate for broad view riding toronto is the husband of olive pugh form erly of stouffville and a dau ghter of mrs pugh and the late alfred pugh mr carroll is a native torontonian being born gl years ago in the rid ing in which he is now a can didate he was an outstanding star of track and field in his younger clays and held the ontario and canadian champ ionships and records in 1909 mr carroll was acclaimed as liberal standard by a large margin at the recent conven tion friends will be sorry to learn that levi mustard who suffered such severe injury when he was crushed with a toronto and york road roller last week has had to undergo the amputation of a leg while his condition for some time was very grave he took a turn for improvement the latter part of the week and is now out of danger mrs fred reynolds church st stouffville is proudly dis playing one of the most beau tiful gloxinia plants that one will ever see the plant with its very large leaves has no less than thirty blooms and boasted the same number last year the belllike flowers are i deep velvety purple the plant was grown from a bulb mrs reynolds tells us she has successfully started sever al more
