there were three sessions all well attended and represented by delegates from twenty different churches at the morning session an ordin ation council was convened and accepted by the church rev g searle of lindsay was chosen moderator with mrs c hisey as clerk the candidate was introduc ed by deacon g ratcliff he then gave in concise form and with clar ity of statement his conversion his call to the ministry and his doctrinal beliefs al this in the spirit of humility the candidate then retired while the council voted unanimously to fellowship him in the gospel minitry by ordination at the afternoon session rev w x charlton wa- the special speaker who gave a stirring mes sage from 2nd tim 21114 the gist of his message was based on scripture which was formerly an ancient hymn he admonished his listeners to obey gods laws by starting each morning and con tinuing through the day with that word as a song on our lips and thus the hymn will ring through out lives and be a the ordination prayer was offered by rev d mc- intyre of xorland the charge to the candidate was given by a j heal of whitevale who said in effect god has set apart we only recognize the fact the charge to the church was given by rev w n charlton of mount pleasant rd toronto speaking briefly on the churches loyalty to their pas tor and to their god the right hand of fellowship was given by rev r d guthrie of orillia the ordination sermon was preach ed by rev r j brackstone of fenelon falls taking as his text 1 sam 10 1718 this scripture portion told where david was chosen king he being a man of gods annointing a man of har mony and a man of valour setting forth this three fold requisite of a pastor he stated that too often young men come out of colleges and seminaries blighted by home in vine- land we extend the sympthy of the community to mr and mrs a leek in the passing of mr leeks sister mrs drummond at the brierbush hospital last sunday mr and mrs walter steckley and family of barrie visited mr and mrs roy brillinger on sun day evening mr robert bell of barrie was a visitor sunday with mr peter brillinger mr bell at one time had been a neighbour of mr brill inger when they lived north of gormley on the fourth concession mrs f climenhage of fort erie also mr levi heise had supper friday evening with mrs e jones and mr stevens congratulations to mr and mrs j mcdonald on the birth of a son last thursday in xewmarket hospital mr and mrs geo watson of buffalo spent friday and satur day with mrs e jones and mr j as stevens mr and mrs harold hill and family enjoyed the holiday mon day on a fishing trip north of beaverton mr and mrs geo barrett and girls were entertained saturday evening in the home of mr and mrs harry jones rev h shantz of vineland had supper monday evening with mr and mrs s n doner rouge conservation assoc to hold inspection tour as a result of the meeting held n unionville may 2sth at which some 50 residents of the water shed were present the rouge river conservation association is now a going concern the consti tution based on that of the don valley association was presented to the meeting and ratified and a large number of councillor lema surier lie signed the resolution replied the reeve deputyreeve james stated that spang liad agreed that he would try and keep within the price of 35000 and the township engi neers margison babcock advised council to go ahead theres nothing you can do about it if the price runs to 50000 said mr smith yes we can we can put him off the job replied councillor hoo per you havent got a contract and you have no control over the cost no company would consider spending this amount of money without a contract continued smith its being done and besides its approved by the highway councillor hooper added that the township had done jobs before without tendering and it was al right if the department agreed dicksons hill church continued from front page the newly erected church of brick construction is equipped with oil heating and air condition ing with spacious accommodation in both the sunday school and church auditorium the former building was not only too small for the growing congregation but also lacked a basement for the 125 sunday school children and was situated in a very dangerous location mr simeon hoover s5 years of age and his sister martha are members of longstanding at dicksons hill having had their names connected to the roll for the last g2 years with the dedication and opening of the fine well built structure at dicksons hill a new era in the and mrs r boynton and mr and mrs r perkins attended the fun eral of the late mrs t klinck at stouffville on monday afternoon a very impressive church ser vice was held sunday evening under the auspices of the local womans association special music was furnished by the mens choir which proved very inspiring mr john gauff of buttonville was the soloist guest speaker was rev lavalle smith of the united church training school toronto the sunday school anniversary services will be held on sunday june loth at 2i pm the guest speaker will be rev douglas davis of the stouffville united church special music will be furnished by the richmond hill united church choir at 730 pm rev a c huston will be the speaker and mrs kerr and mrs jenkins of the melville united church will supply special music the wms mission band and baby band will meet on saturday afternoon at 230 pm in the sun day school room browns cor ners mission band has been in vited the graduation exercises of- the baby band will also take place miss raymer of gormley will be the guest speaker everyone wel come goodwood mr herbert attended confer- eace in toronto mrs herbert and daughter accompanied him mr andrew morgason year- old citizen left last thursday morning on a holiday the gooviwod orange lodge is holding its annual church service in tlie goodwood united church on july sth at 730 pm all mem bers in the of vrooman- ton conducted the services in the goodwood united church last sunday while rev herbert con ducted anniversary services at udora miss wilson and miss swan of the faith mission will continue sunday evening june 22nd at 730 oclock all masons in the surrounding district are invited to attend there will be a special speaker and special music ten members of goodwood loi sa 100 attended the annual church parade and service of the loyal county orange lodge of east york tlie service was held in hope united church and was augmented with toronto lodges of the loba ltb juveniles and the children from the ltb and orange home the lodges were so well represented in the parade it was impossible for all to get into the church for the service there was a family gathering at the home of mr and mrs f reid over the weekend mr and mrs c b reid of montreal mr norman reid of london mrs j w reid mr and mrs e w reid and sons miss norma reid of bracebridge mr and mrs h c reid mr and mrs roy charge of the president mrs mowbray was taken by several members in the form of a dedication of supplies for the bale mrs clarke and mrs harbron spoke on the theme if a man knows not how to rule his
