cur rent year by the stalf of pickering district high school is causing concern to tlie board some mem bers of which say the request is unreasonably high at present the hoard is undecided what action it can take 10 meet the wage de mands which are backed by the strength of the ontario secondary school teachers federation last year when the teachers were hired under the years con tract the board adopted the teachers own official schedule which meant that wages being paid in the pickering school were the highest for similar schools in the province and at that time the board took considerable pride in being able to offer such satisfac tory salaries the situation as outlined today by a board official is as follows the teaching staff of pickering district high school have present ed to the hoard a salary proposal based on the ontario secondary school teachers federation sche dule as adopted for 1952 the staff ask for the immediate adoption of this schedule and an increase of s150 per teacher across the board retractive to jan 1st 1952 this is in addition to the regular yearly increment of 200 per teacher as of sept 1st 1952 the pickering board adopted the federation schedule in its get tenders on ithe sale of former ontario county home tenders for the purchase f the i ontario county home building i placed back oh the market on account of the fact that the hoipi- j tal proposal has fallen through j are being called by ontario coun- i tv council the tenders close on march 31 when the building was advertis- i ed before the highest bid was j 15out which is the amount those behind the hospital project agreed to pay one thousand dollars was paid down which will be retained by the county according to a council decision last week entirely in jan of 1951 and engag ed the present stall in line with that schedule the proposal as now presented comes only a few months after the opening of the new 16room school at pickering in sept of 1951 it is interesting to note that a concerted- effort is being made by a group of interested school hoards with representatives from kingston to burlington and in cluding pickering to band them selves together in an attempt to
