heard in connection with the advertised treasurers position caused a flareup in council finally resulting in adjournment the meeting was held for the specfic purpose of dealing with the applicants personally in private before an announcement of the engaging of the officer and salary was announced a number of ratepayers from the front of the township turned up during the meeting and were refused entrance its in the act that the public shall be allowed in with the exception of meetings dealing with welfare claimed councillor lemasurier who vigorously opposed the ratepayers exclusion deputyreeve james stated that this was not a regular council meeting thus it would not be governed by the act and the busi ness to be dealt with required some privacy for council if the public is allowed in ill call for an adjournment exclaim ed councillor chas hooper seven applicants were heard for the treasurership and salaries asked ranged from a low of 2100 to a high of 3200 however dis agreement as to the actual need for such an officer at all left the matter in a stalemate councillor lemasurier contend ed that the work was not distri buted equitably among the departments and favoured mrs kobt rao who is already on the office staff as the treasurer reeve timbers objected that such a move would not improve matters any since it has always been the opinion of council that the
