mrs stanley boynton and family mr and mrs h sanderson were sunday visitors with mr and mrs stanley boynton and family the twentyninth semiannual meeting of the womens associa tion toronto centre presbytery of the united church was held in victoria square united church on tuesday oct 3rd the meeting opened at 1030 am with mrs r h pomeroy of fairlawn ave toronto presiding mrs partridge of the leaside wa conducted the devotions at the conclusion of svhich mrs w j c addison sang a solo mrs p w willows presi dent of the victoria square wa extended a warm and cordial wel come to the visiting executive and delegates to which mrs pomeoy responded the theme of the devotions was timely be thank ful for the little everyday things of life reports were given and mrs percy bone past president gave the offering prayer mrs c j clode had prepared two skits the first one was on how not to conduct a group meeting it was acted through by six members of fairlawn wa it was called the nohow the second skit was called the knowhow and show ed how to conduct a meeting it iwas acted by the executive officers tof the toronto centre womens organization the ladies adjourned for dinner at 1230 it was served in the basement of the church and prepared by the ladies of the local wa greetings on behalf of the church were expressed by the pastor rev a c huston to all assembled mr h matton execu tive secretary of the toronto branch of the canadian red cross society gave an excellent resume of the work being carried on by that organization the meeting closed with all rising and repeatin the womens association prayer umonville our community was well repre sented at markham fair on satur day the local school got second prize on their mural as well as prizes on writing mr and mrs fred timbers returned home on sunday from ottawa and surrounding district where mr timbers had been judg ing at plowing matches mr and mrs stan brown and family spent thanksgiving with mr and mrs elson of uxbridgfe mr and mrs ricketts and family of toronto were guests of the har- woods on sunday mrs s w hastings spent the holiday with mr and mrs clayt baker of orillia and enjoyed with them a delightful trip through the beautiful northland oil sunday mr and mrs win cake and family spent the weekend with relatives at ringwood altona mr and mrs ed dixon of new market were guests of mr and mrs wm reesor over the week end mr and mrs h mcintosh enter tained friends on thanksgiving da mr and mrs chas gostick called on mi and mrs john pal- lister on sunday afternoon mr fletcher goudie accom panied by mr k bunker mr h bunker and mr mervin bunker spent the weekend at the goudies cottage our teacher miss heise accom panied by her three sisters and brotherinlaw spent the weekend in ohio the four sisters were invited to supply vocal music for special services over the weekend mr and mrs leonard cox of whitby mr and mrs daryl car son of toronto mr and mrs alex hughes of toronto spent thanks giving with mr and mrs john pallister mr o madill has received all his trimmings in connection with his recent grand lodge appoint ment and he does appreciate them very much he is only the second one to receive this honour at stouffviue mr and mrs d mansbridge left monday on a two weeks holiday trip to prince edward island as guests of herbrother the club girls again exhibited at markham fair and even with a competition they were success ful in winning eleven prizes alto gether mr and mrs david crosier had a thanksgiving dinner on monday and entertained part of their family dumping markham township mr robert bartlett of emmanuel college toronto is to be the guest speaker at both services special music will be supplied by the goodwood cgit quartette in the morning and the baker hill ladies octette at night the services will take place at 1100 am and 7 pm eastern standard time on thursday evening the boy scouts are having their first father and son banquet every boy scout will be there and it is hoped that every father will make a special effort to be present miss olive shell gave two thrill ing messages to fifth line and siloam congregations last sunday each of the churches on the charge were decorated in real thanks giving style those who spent thanksgiving day with mr and mrs charles jones were mr and mrs alfred hemmings and cathy of whitby mr benny jones of mcmaster meet ing a good number of ladies were present several of the homes in the community had visitors over the thanksgiving weekend the usual number attended markham fair on saturday melville melville wms held their regu- lar meeting at the home of miss bruce on tuesday oct 3rd j following the business period an enjoyable social time was a feature of the program hostesses were mrs garnet francey mrs r tues day mr and mrs jack robinson and family spent thanksgiving with the latters sister mrs norman coretts of churchill mr and mrs james mitchell and family of toronto and mr angus grant of orangeville were thanks giving guests of mr and mrs harold sleeth and family mr and mrs albert dunn of toronto spent the thanksgiving weekend with the latters sister and brotherinlaw mr and mrs s
