a total of nine asuhes the boys have won seven including two tourna menus they have won eleven and of these eleven wins miller has finished and won eight in case youre wondering who the heavers are theyre the local intermediates the boys went into a huddle and came up with this one did you know that in the little world series of lj2i toronto swept five straight from louisville of the american association on that championship team were such stars as jess doyle steve oneill carl uubbell del capes and lionel conacher the manager was dan uowley and the trainer was one of the famous dalys m m the local ilidgets have folded because of disagreement over players which are eligible for both teams when the players start to run the coaches and tell them what team theyre playing for and what team theyre not its time some one took a firm hand too many minor ball and hockey players in this town are guilty the midgets are definitely kaput but a house league will be organized in town with all boys steamball pitching of hoke miller and smart hitting the beavers rolled to a decisive win over the boys from scugog harpers boys worked for only one hit and a walk in the first innings two were left on as the port boys were held well in check stoufrville never got a hit in their half but nevertheless worked a run around as minton walked and scored on two errors by port in the second only three men got a chance to see long toms fast ball whiff past their noses these three men sure looked down hearted when the third strike was called ole bill harper did equally well in his battle against the beavers as three men fell under the sweep of that lefthander in the third port perry threat ened with two hits and a walk but were cut down on the basepaths stouffville pounded out two hits for a total of four runs in their half of the third as three errors were committed by port miller held harpers boys well in check in the fourth but they fought hard and earned a run two hits combined with a walk in the last of the fourth to score one run for stouffville ports hit rim and error column was filled with horsecollars in the fifth as each man grounded out to big bob hassard at the initial sack stouffvilles record was ball and harry noble and between equally blank but hassard worked them they hauled in sixty pounds another walk his third and nigh of fighting lake trout in about six hours on the lake biggest fin hooked weighed approximately six and a quarter pounds and on several occasions two of the three local fishermen had simultaneous strikes while the lake was quite rough during the weekend it was apparently no deterrent to the local luck another old fish yarn that early morning and late even ing are the best fishing hours proved nothing since the stouff ville haul was made during mid day the toronto star is offering some 1500 in prize money for various fishing feats during the summer and the local catch should stand up well among the seasons best stouffville takes second from sutton stouffville 14 sutton 1 the local nine again wound up on the right end of a lopsided score against sutton the game was a good one to win but a bad one to watch being marred by seven errors in all miller went the route for the local boys allowin but four hits in seven innings of play up until the last of the fifth not a sutton player reached third base miller thought he had a no- run game but lady luck frowned in the seventh when holborn scored in the last half holborn pitched average ball for the whole game but was inclined to give up too many free trips to first sutton 0 0 highlight of the stouffville rampage in the sixth was porky schells home run porky just met the ball but it seemed to carry well over the middle garden fence miller the next batter flied out in almost the same place but butch schell cranked what looked like a long triple over the rightfield fence the ball caromed off a car however and bounced back onto the field for a good double cook and hassard hit safely and three runs were scored in the half innings port perry gave up the ghost in the seventh as they failed to tally bills boys just didnt seem to have it throughout the game in the hit column the team would have looked a lot worse if harpers arm had failed tempers flared repeatedly in this game and umpire murphys patience was well tested stoufrville 101103 port perry 0 0 0 10 0
