toronto the health cooking service of canada ltd are serving a dinner sponsored by the local wa to be held in the sunday school room on wednesday evening march 1st at 030 oclock sawdust famine faces lucknow but ratclif f stockpile holds up the sawdust famine up in the lucknow district will probably be an interesting episode to stouffville people since this kind of fuel is not unkown here a few years ago ratcliffs store was heated by sawdust and some of- the ratcliff homes west of town still use saw dust to good advantage since they have their own stockpile however many residents in lucknow are faced with a heating problem due to a sawdust famine as available sawdust is being trucked from listowel to keep the home fires burning or smouldering as the case may be during and immediately follow ing the war when fuel supplies of coal wood and oil were uncertain many lucknowites installed saw dust burners in homes and busi ness places and found sawdust a satisfactory and very economical heating subsitute with the luck now sawmill working night and day the yearround the sawdust supply was ample to meet local demands but in december the sawmill closed down for the winter and since then the monster stock pile of burnable sawdust rapidly dis appeared for the past couple of weeks lucknowites have been scouring the countryside in search of sawdust but have found it to be a surprisingly scarce commo dity some is being obtained at listowel with truckers sitting waiting for the freshly sawed pro duct as it comes from the mill some sawdust users are making other heating arrangements such as installing oil burners or revert ing their furnaces to burn coal or wood mr don ratcliff informs the tribune that he finds sawdust for fuel ideal and by making the sum mer cut with winter moisture in the iatter cut tends to distribute through the summer sawdust to good advantage for burning mr ratcliff says that those using sawdust from ratcliffs mill are not experiencing any shortage of supplies such as has occurred lucknow baby beef club organized for york as a result of a meeting at the agricultural office newmaiflcec agricultural representative w m cockburn announced that a
