and continua tion school account has been a contentious one to claremont rate payers for some time and though the matter has now been settled by arbitration the settlement out come has never been announced publicly at the time of formation of the new pickering high school area the amount of 3400 stood in the claremont public and continu ation school account and there was much fear by the local rate payers who had paid it in taxes that the new area board would attempt to absorb this money which did not belong to them thus an arbitration board con sisting of lloyd johnston town ship treasurer sid dunning repre senting the claremont school and burnett jamieson representing the high school area was set up to deal with the matter the outcome of their deliber ation was that the 3100 in the account should be turned over to the credit of the claremont public school until such time as a new high school is erected in the township the area board will rent the con tinuation school portion of the claremont school the rental to be paid being two fifths of the main tenance and cost and two fifths of the debenture cost of the entire school the existing equipment in the claremont school is being used by the area board but will be return ed to the claremont school when no longer needed rental to be the nominal sum of 1 this equip ment contract stands for all except the laboratory
