womens institute camp lbeing held at lake simcoe miss vera nichols has returned after spending the past two months touring england and europe mr and mrs martin styrmo have returned after spending the past two months in norway a very enjovable picnic was held at midhurst last tuesday by the members of the senior womens institute and their husbands we wish a speedy recovery to little miss margaret gee who had the misfortune to fall out of her fathers car on monday night we hope her injuries will not be too severe mr merrill johnson accompanied by friends from toronto left on sunday morning for western canada and the coast where they will spend the next two or three months rev e a currey will be in the pulpit on sunday sept 4 after his vacation during the month of august mr and mrs gerald lyons and family of toronto spent sunday with mr and mrs alvin caseley and family miss peggy marlow of toronto spent a few days last week with her grandparents mr and mrs v westbrook we also wish a speedy recovery to little miss shirley boynton who has been bedfast for several weeks miss florence cook of lansing spent saturday here with miss grace boynton victoria square girls took the second game of the semifinals in the softball series from aurora with a score of 94 kathy mc arthur pitched a fine game and allowed only a few hits pauline eade played on outstanding game at second base and hit a homer to bring in the first run eleanor reid leftfielder also hit a homer in the second innings the first game of the finals will be played against elgin mills on thursday night the return game will be played next week transportation will be pro vided for all the away games the local team wishes to thank the victoria square fans for their support through the season and in the playoffs more tindall is very ill but we hope for a speedy return to health mr wayman irvin has installed hydro in one of his houses in altona mrs c hodgson and harold accompanied by her mother and sister are holidaying at orchard beach lake simcoe mr and mrs david crosier enjoyed a trip to barrie last friday to visit mr and mrs harvey clarke mrs clarke was a former school teacher here mr and mrs roy filled to capacity last tuesday evening to honour mr and mrs garnet pattenden nee myrle stephenson who were married saturday aug 27 the evenings entertainment was made up of solos by mr harry preston mr win kingdon guitar numbers by mr clem ellas music by the johnston family and a mock wedding mr robert carr acted as chairman garnet and myrle were presented with an occasional chair a table lamp b henderson ruth blanche and freda enjoyed several days at wiarlon south ampton and lions head they also had the privilege of attending the pentecostal camp meeting of the indian reserve settlement at southampton mr and mrs hazen of ancaster visited for several days recently in this community congratulations to mr and mrs bruce crowder nee grace eade who were married last saturday in the united missionary church our best wishes are extended to them a shower in their honour was held at the eade home last thursday evening mr and mrs crowder will live in toronto we are pleased to hear that mrs m ash was able to leave the east general hospital on monday following a recent operation we wish her a speedy return to good health mr and mrs fred ellis tony and olive of toronto lately of london
