of stouffville blind from birth he attended mongolia school accompanied by his sister alice who assisted him in his stu dies in his very early youth he showed marked musical ability so his father purchased one of the first organs known in that commun ity and which is still with one of the family he attended brantford school for the blind for some years studying music and piano tuning and on his vacations at home usually brought other blind boys with him- many times these were the famed leppard brothers of sharon ont and the three all blind and gifted as singers and playing different instruments gave many concerts in schools and chur ches in the different localities his father was a storekeeper and postmaster for fortyfour years at mongolia and their home was the rendezvous for many blind boys on their vacations after leaving the brantford school arthur was em ployed with the firm of mason risch co toronto as a piano tuner for some years later he went to essex and kent counties where he also taught music and tuned pianos travelling unaccompanied all around these districts driving a horse and buggy in september 1s93 he married luella m shepley a well known school teacher and elocutionist their combined talents were a source of pleasure and entertain ment as mr curtis played several instruments and was a great imita tor of wellknown characters mrs curtis passed
