protests paying lajax school costs protests a financial burdens created by the village of ajax arose ilast week as ontario county coun cil expressed its strong disapproval of paying secondary school costs for ajax at a special session the council passed a resolution introduced by i w h westney deputyreeve of pickering township stating tliat since the county receives no con tribution or taxes from the crown lands at ajax towards the costs of ajax pupils attending high schools collegiates and vocational training schools or for any other school costs and as the parents of such pupils are not assessed the council strongly protests the paying of such i costs for ajax pupils and that the school should look to the pupil for payment copies of the resolution are to be forwarded to the ontario minister of education and to the schools concerned mr westney pointed out that a similar resolution had been passed by the pickering township council which is called upon to pay one half of such educational costs payment of both pickerings share and that of the county had been made un der protest last year i can only repeat what i have said before w g manning de clared as he emphatically expressed his support of mr westneys mo tion it is not only secondary school costs which are borne partly by pickering township and partly by the county as a whole but there are illegitimate children we have to keep hospital bills and the various social services he said then if these people stay there long enough they will establish residence and we will have them to keep in the old peoples home it just seems to work one way he went on we pay everything and get nothing i think we should make our protest very strong we just seem to be ignored wwwwmi see pickering farms first if vou have flood
