almost encourage hold ups by their lack of effort to com bat bank robberies at last how ever something is to be done to put a stop to this sort of crime the bank of montreal is the first to make the effort according td the elora express a new holdup alarm system which has been devised by the bank of montreal in conjunction with a protective agency is now being in stalled in all the banks branches across the country and the banks local office here has already been provided with this added protec tion the first to use a system of this type the bank is meeting with the fullest cooperation of police depart ments across the country deemed by police as most commendable and worthy of the fullest coopera tion this system is designed to combat the wave of bank holdups that has been sweeping the aurora votes new school costi xg 285000 by a vote of two to one aurora voters authorized the spending of up to 285000 by the municipality for a new public school at the polls on dec 19 the large majority came as a surprise to the school support ers who feared a silent vote which failed to materialize in view of the amount of the expenditure involved the number of voters eligible to vote took the matter casually with many eligible voters failing to cast a ballot many complaints were regist ered at the polling booths as pro perty owners in many cases found themselves unlisted the 1945 delegates in her presidential address mrs summers reviewed some of the achievements of the last year mentioning specially the fact that one mobile canteen had been sent to britain and another to sweden to be used in welfare work in these countries mrs summers emphasiz ed the need for all institutes to take advantage of the cooperative pro gram being provided and urged that a greater interest be taken in the rural schools and rural education she particularly commended pro vision of hot lunches in rural schools as a womens institutes project announcement was made that the first postwar convention of the associated countrywomen of the world is to be held in amsterdam on september 1947 at which the ontario womens institutes will be entitled to five delegates st thursday nite is foto james graham who passed away some six years ago was born and lived all her life on the 3rd of whitchurch township until this spring when she moved with her youngest daughter mrs gordon carr to kes wick mother of a family of three boys and six girls she toiled long and made every sacrifice to see them all comfortably settled in life and had the satisfaction of realizing their devotion and respect for many years mrs graham was in her 79th year when she passed away and suffered for many years as a result of a break down in health but never lost her sweetness of disposition ot her faith in god throughout her long life she commanded the highest regard and respect of all who knew her there remains to mourn tar loss three sons wilbur russel and walter all residing en the 3rd of
