gamebridge in 1946 following the report of the nom inating committee mrs n white federation representative con ducted the election of officers which resulted as follows president mrs geo dukelow beaverton ilst vice mrs norman shier burns the branch secretaries gave interesting reports of- the work done during the year all showed much time and money spent in the interest of the war donations of money and gifts were sent to the navy league seeds for britain red cross box fund russian re lief sugar fund british war vic tim etc ah branches reported send ing boxes and comforts to local men in the armed forces overseas also remembering the sick and shutins at home mrs f- walden of the depart ment spoke on the junior work she congratulated the institute for the work accomplished and stress brigade projecusvery worth while especially when food is so much needed she regretted that north ontario had not -done- verylrauch along this line and hoped for more interest in the future the afternoon session opened with community singing after which mrs carl meyers gave the address of welcome to which mrs johnston replied mrs dudenhoffer gave her report of the convention miss collins of tin department gave an interesting account of her visit with miss christmas who is in canada in the interest of the womens institute of england after some discussion of the co operative program it was decided the district project be a one day conference on health education the subject chosen sighs and symptoms of illness meetings to be held after november 15th at the branches mrs n white brought greetings from the provincial board she spoke briefly of her visit to the sick childrens hospital and stated the womens institute would soon be asked for donations toward the amount of money required for a new hospital she gave an explana tion of the institute program show ing the relation of the dominion provincial convention area dis trict and branch work pointing out clearly the functions of standing committees during the afternoon mona arm strong and mrs thomas sang very beautiful solos which were enjoyed by all the district conveners gave the reports of standing committees these showed
