husband of addie kent passedaway at his home in port perry on saturday december 23 on saturday he con tracted pneumonia and passed away a short time later of yorkshire stock the deceased was born at manchester ontario in 1868 and attended public and high school at whitby and late the ontario agricultural college at guelph for two years during the next 31 years he operated the homestead at manchester during which time he served six years on the reach township council and two years on the ontario county council he moved to port perry in 1921 in 1925 mr holtby was appointed fieldman for canada by the hoi- steinfriesean association of can ada and had an extensive acquain tance among holstein breeders and other livestock breeders across canada and parts of the united states having judged holsteins at most canadian shows and several large american exhibitions the deceased was always a strong liberal except for support ing the late william smith and the union government during world war i and twice united farmer candidates he was the candidate for the new construction party in ontario riding in 1935 mr holtby was a member of the methodist church since the age of 15 years
