y v the tribune stouffville pht 2qthl944 es-ij- advertisement advertisement waaj ix normandy a message- to the people of canada from the society for individual freedom opposing state socialism advertisement by one interested how dare we speak out the political party that is attempting to force state soc ialism upon us here in canada has in a recent issue of its official newspaper seen fit to smear the society for individual freedom and its members boh individually and collectively the editors of that paper appropriated from private correspondence of ours without explaining how they came ly it a list of names of those who they flatly declare are sponsors of this society and they then proceed to vilify all of us aside from the gross misrepresentation of their statement such indefensible tactics will shock everyones sense of ethics and de cency they vent their spleen on us because we are attempting to organize a campaign to tell the people of canada before it is too late what the package known as state social ism actually contains so that you the people can decide for yourselves whether or not you really want what they are trying to sell you they imply that our efforts are both illegal and immoral so long as we keep our mouths shut and say nothing we are decent citizens- but immediately we attempt to acquaint canadians with the true facts about state socialism we at once become rogues and reprobates this is typical of these intolerant and abusive state socialists they preach unity while prosecuting an inten sive campaign of hate designed specifically to set class against class to create dissension in canada and above all to stifle public debate on the issue of state social ism just remember that these are the very people who will be telling you what you can say and do should they ever get into power our sin is that we oppose state socialism openly honestly and fearlessly moreover having the courage of our convictions we hope to get every canadian to apprec- iate the disaster that confronts canada if we ever surren- der our individual rights liberty of action and freedom of opportunity to a central state authority make no mistake about it the boys behind the scenes in this state socialism movement are not fooling they know what they want and intend to get it hence they soft pedal their ultimate objectives and appeal for your support through a series of plausible prom- cleverly and carefully directed to influence such groups as farmers labor women youth and our armed forces but never at any time do they tell you that in attempting to f ul- fill their fantastic promises they would take from you every last vestige of your liberty they hope by calling names and slinging mud that they will not only divert us from our determination to give you the facts but will so confuse you over the issue that you will fail to grasp the fundamental fact that their program spells dictatorship with a vengeance we are fully prepared to take their abuse and to meet it the interest of showing them up in their true colors but unless all those opposed tostate socialism are pre- pared to stand up and be counted and then do something it will soon be too late the society for individual freedom affords every true i canadian regardless of age sex race class creed or poli- otics an opportunity to fight to preserve what our armed f forces are struggling so desperately to save our in- dividual freedom we- want more workers as well as endorsers send for onr free literature and learn the truefacts of state soc ialism use
