passing is great shock north bay honors late j e lehman north bay july 10 flags on the city hall and on the public schools of north bay flew at half mast to day in last tribute to jacob ethan lehman prominent pioneer resi dent of this city who passed away at st josephs hospital on satur day july 8th senior businessman of north bay having opened his barber business in this city in may 1s97 mr lehman was 67 years of age at the time of his death fun eral services were held at his home and at st andrews church this afternoon born in stouffville the son of the late mr and mrs joseph lehman mr lehman began his barbering trade in that centre 53 years ago later moving to ottawa welland renfrew london peterboro and finally to north bay in 1896 the same year he married the former margaret mcmillan of this city in carleton place prominent in civic affairs and a respected elder of st andrews un ited church for many years mr lehman was a life member of the masons and the odd fellows and was also a member of the orange lodge the funeral was conducted by the odd fellows he was a mem ber of the public school board for 10 years and chairman for two years and was also a member of the pioneers association of this city besides being an elder of st an drews church he was a choir mem ber for many years and taught in the sunday school of that church in poor health for some time he died after a brief illness of one week funeral services were conducted this afternoon at his home62 wylde street and at st andrews church by rev m n omond interment was made in the union cemetery surviving mr lehman are his wife and three sons dr ethan lehman of ottawa bert lehman druggist of noranda- and sqdn ldr reg lehman of ottawa one daughter mrs h r stratton of englehart also survives hewas council meeting postponed owing to the ill health of clerk john crawford whitchurch town ship council meeting was cancelled for saturday last week it is now believed that the regular meeting for july
