lower than last year by reason of the one mill subsidy on educational costs which in pick ering total 50000 an amount of 4071 will be returnable to the ratepayers in the reduction other slight decreases in the patriotic levy general school rate and gen eral township rate account for the remainder of the reduction the general township rate last year was 45 mills and this year recently sold for the sum of 12000 will be 4 mills the county rate is assessment on the property was slightly up while relief is also uponjy 4900 wards 05 mills but continued mr spears the equalization still potent problem place is only worth ssooo there was considerable discus sion regarding equalized assessment which still remains a potent pro blem for the county and township it was pointed out by assessor adam spears that while certain pro perties were selling at heretofore unknown figures this did not re present a true value of the land he cited as an example a farm which reeve reesor contended that the time was fast approaching when all assessments in the township would have to be raised if any equal basis for the entire county was to be at tained the raising of the entire assessment of the township would in no way interfere with the taxes as the rate could be adjusted ac cordingly will proceed with new township offices infant son has narrow escape the little yearold son of mr and mrs entirely from the present hall although some repairs will also be made to this building the township is badly in need of an office for the clerk and vault to house the municipal records the hall now being used was a gift to the council and would be turned back to the people of the district for entertainment use the township is in process of pur chasing a new crusher for their gravel pit the cost
