address and mrs roy smith presented to mis ewen a casserole and bath towel their four little girls joan margaret audiey and eleanor will be greatly missed by the children of the com munity lemonville there was a good attendance at the cuurch service on sunday we were favored with a splendid guest speaker rev bndgeman who re turned from china last year miss elaine rae went back to the sick childrens hospital in tor onto on tuesday for a check over we hope she will soon be up around again mr gordon lemon was home over the weekend irom mimico where be is employed the quarterly missionary meeting of the ladies aid was held at the home of councillor and mrs e bak er on thursday afternoon the presi dent mrs o baker conducted the devotional exercises the programme in charge of mrs j wintersteln and mrs tranmer included the roll call answered by a missionary sketch piano solos by mr c baker reading by mrs barnes a talk on missions by mrs g w brown and a musical contest of missionary hymns the most nearly correct answers were given by mesdames brown baker and morton an interesting letter from miss mary neal who is engaged in missionary work in the northland was read lunch was served by the hostesses church hill the red cross society held the quilting last thursday at miss mar- jorie clarks and completed 4 large quilts they wish to acknowledge the gift of matenal for one top from bloomington mr and mrs baker and mrs lemon were in toronto last week mr m barues was elected trustee at the annual school meeting mr w wideinau having completed his term was retired the caretaker is mr w vaughan and the books were audited mr and mrs e fairies and sons were at markham on sunday mr and mrs a w storry were guests of mr and mrs e morgason at goodwood on sunday to help conserve fuel the c en deavor are holding their weekly meetings in the homes of the con gregation the meeting for friday next will be at mr e fairies frank woodward formerly of brookshire england now stationed at picton 1raf where he has been for two years was visiting his sister here last week mrs ben talbot he is on embarkation leave and expects to be in england for the wedding of his brother staff serg fred wood ward to patricia webb of london england frank will be best man at the ceremony melville the cashel red cross unit held its first meeting of the year on wednes day last at the manse with a large attendance of ladles and a consider able amount of work was accom plished the next meeting will be on wednesday jan 19th at the usu al hour and place the melville ypu held a special evening at the manse on friday last and a good programme was enjoyed by all the executive has planned a very interesting series of meetings for the coming months and all young people are urged to take advantage of these fine programmes the next meeting will be on jan 21st north york ccf to choose federal candidate green pjver mr humfrey of whitby again took the afternoon church service it is nice to see the children of mr geo duncan out again after their long illness miss edythe taylor spent the week end at the charlie white home mr and mrs a gray and gordon mr and mrs r carter visited on mis wm beach the meeting thls witn mr b carter thursday will be held at mrs ernest lageeis ringwood mis harry kennedy and little son stephen of windsor are visiting her parents mr and mrs e r sin clair we are glad to report that mrs harry ratcliff who was removed to st michaels hospital last friday for an operation is progressing nicely mrs kenneth ellis and daughter peggy of toronto were weekend visi tors at mrs martin focklers mrs allen mallory and children of edmonton are visiting with her aunt miss priscilla pipher we are sorry some of our older folk have been sick in the past week namely mrs w giay mr b carter and mr benson wilson pte bill calbert has leceived his chuslmas parcel and states he is not married as was formerly reported but his wedding day will be on jan 22nd the crokinole at the draperwil son home was well attended and a nice sum of money was raised for the ladies aid mr gordon duncan is spending a weeks leave at the home of his par ents mr and mrs w duncan
