that thing we call our soul which we hear so much about and yet know so little of really com ing into its own and expanding the intentions for it were in the first place jake and i had a fourday pass last week and got a job for the four because he is having such a fine days it was a pretty good place to time at prince rupert eldon says he work in a wholesale i was running never got aiound to writing many a freight elevator most of the time letters home the weather there he and jake running a coffee grinder describes as swell much spare we didnt make exactly big wages time is spent playing baseball and football continuing this former goodwood lad says today being sunday and not having anything to do for the day i jumped into one of the carriers and went out in the mountains for a spin i have been over the road in numerable times now as it is the only one out of plince rupert but each time i go over it i find myself falling in love with this country more and more it nearly breaks a pel sons heart when it lams for a week stead ily but when the sun comes out and nature and the whole country and atmosphere laughs it is irresistable this probably sounds like sentiment al trash- to you folks at home but it you ever had the privilege to see and study the district as i have i be lieve you would fall a victim to the unabating lure of the rockies when i came through tlhe rockies to prince rupert i felt sorry for the people in the cabins we saw in the isolated vastness of the british col umbia forests however i new under stand their feelings to a certain ex tent and even envy them true enough it is lonely so far ashuman companionship is concerned but there is so much peace and quiet and beauty it more than makes up for such ordinary things as human be ings there never seems to be any we sympathize with job jordan and his soninlaw george sutton in their great loss mrs suttons death is reported elsewhere in this issue mrs percy cutler it is expected will be able to return from the hos pital on friday of this week follow ing an operation she underwent at st josephs owing to her illaess she will be unable to see her son eric get his wings the very day she is expected to leave the hospital the death occurred at the toron to general hospital on monday this week of sarah sutton wife of george sutton of ballantrae she passed away in her 6sth year following a long illness and the funeral will be held this thursday afternoon from the late home in ballantrae to churchill cemetery deceased was a daughter of the late job jordan ballantraes oldest man he being 90 the father and husband are the sole survivors there being no family but it was a change we stayed at the salvation anmy hostel for men in the service it only cost us 2i5c a night and real sheets fresh every day to sleep in i dont know how they can ever do the laundry for- that much the salvation army dont seem to worry about the cost and they really give us fellows in the services a lift especially in a place like this where you cant get a room for love or money i hope to get a six weeks course on demolition and land mines short ly i ran into a young fellow from uxbridge and another chap that used to play hockey for sunderland in the bush league at uxbridge we really had a talk about home and some real arguments about the hockey saturday april 10 193 tht following property
