carried a bouquet of pink briarclifc roses which was sent to the grooms mother who was absent through illness the bridesmaid gwendolyn tran mer cousin of the bride wore a gown of bright rose wool trimmed with gold and carried a colonial nosegay of roses and forgetmenots howard shantz of kitchener at tended the groom rev douglas g davis performed the ceremony against a background of pink mums and ferns the brides aunt mrs tranmer received in a dress of airforce blue wool crape and wore a corsage of talisman roses following the re ception to somir thirty guests the happy couple left for a motor trip to north bay for travelling the bride chose a monterey rose dress black bducle cloth coat with silver fox fur collar and black velvet hat on their return they will reside on the grooms farm near orangeville the grooms gift to the bride was a mink fur neckpiece to the brides maid a turquoise dinner ring to the best man a waterman pen and pen cil set and the pianist a compact melville owing to the extreme cold wea ther and the impossibility of starting many cars the attendance at christ mas services last sunday was con siderably smaller than usual and it was decided to postpone the candle light service at melville until next sunday dec 27 at 730 the melville school- held their an nual christmas concert on thursday evening and the school was filled with parents and friends who mr russel whitehead in which mr whitehead and young daughter lois were killed and mrs whitehead and paul are in the hospital in a serious condition the accident occurred at the level crossing at whitby on saturday night the members of pickering town ship council officials and other guests were entertained at dinner at the home of reeve william reesor and mrs reesor following the clos ing of the last council meeting on tuesday evening of last week fifteen gentlemen sat down to the table where they enjoyed a wonder ful venison dinner served by mrs reesor and daughters mr reesor is an enthusiastic northland hunter at the request of the host w c murkar acted as chairman and toastmaster in his remarks he called attention to the change in local conditions from the operation of the plant here that has brought 9000 new citizens into this town ship from all parts of this continent anatural development in conditions isjseen in the need for increased police services particularly
